Once upon a time....I was a professor at a university. When I was teaching a class about how laws get made at the state level I asked a young senator to come and speak to the class. As she explained the very complex process of getting a bill through the system it came out that she is a veterinarian but had to quit because she could not stand it when people would bring in their dogs and asked to have them put-down because they could not, or would not, afford the treatment for them. Additionally, she had a disabled child that required constant care that was expensive and she spent so very much time trying to collect from people who would not pay their bill --- so she quit and became a politician because the benefits were good and she could get good care for her disabled child. She told this store with tears in her eyes........soooo, we have to look at both sides of this picture. I too am very glad your pup is doing well. This is a great place to come for help as people here are very knowledgeable and really dedicated to Yorkies. Stick around and learn from these folks and let us get to know you better! |

I agree with Ladyjane there were no rotten apples on that thread and you were given the best advice from the open hearts of the responders for the good of the little dog who could have possibly ingested poison or just had a stroke with continuing brain bleed, etc., and possibly only had hours to live. As we as often operating with little to no background or history, we can only hit the high spots and give the best advice based on what we are given to work with vs. what sounds like could possibly going on with a dog and the passing of time being critical if poison or a massive stroke/brain bleed were involved. As there are many rescue organizations who have to take over the care of ill or injured dogs where no funds exist to obtain vital vet care in emergent situations probably every day in this country, apparently not everyone to whom it is recommended surrendering their dog to get it vetted thinks that is a mean or vile suggestion, as many, many people do obtain vital emergency care for their dogs that way without pointing fingers of judgment at those that suggest it or continue to verbally berate them for days following. No one thought the worst of you - we were only trying to make you see what got you in your situation did not matter - only quick vetting seemed to be critical with a dog having Daisy Mae's symptoms. But I cannot help but feel I and the others you've judged as "mean", "rotten apples", etc., pointing us out by name on your first thread, feel your continued attempts to vilify us as excessive, somewhat vindictive and totally unhelpful at this point. All I and the others wanted to do was give you the best and quickest way to get what sounded to some of us amateurs(which is what I made clear to you were are) critical and immediate vet care for a critically ill or injured dog which lay passing out/losing muscular control, jerking and shaking. And that's what you get when you come to a public forum on the internet - amateurs working with too little information, no medical or event history, no environmental information, no age, weight, temperature, respirations or heart rate and no vet license on our walls. And we mostly suggested you vet your dog ASAP and some of us went on to suggest that IF you ultimately couldn't afford its critical care vet bills and it light of its awful symptoms, surrender the dog for immediate emergent care rather than let it suffer, its symptoms worsens and possibly die as time could be of the essence. And for that, the judgment and negativity came crashing down and continue. And what do you mean you weren't allowed to respond? You've already taken some of us to task over and over on your original thread, reported on Daisy Mae's good outcome and we all happily responded and wished you well. What is the point of this second time around? You keep wondering why no one cared about what led up to your situation and what you were going through, the kind of person you are. I've been through a bad year physically and my dog has a chronic condition and my sister is dying, but I still give to the poor and do what I can, help my neighbors in bad times, so I haven't had it so grand either but I'm not as bad as you seem to think I am. What will it take for you to see my advice was that of an amateur in an online forum offered in good faith, to get the dog critical vet diagnosis and care ASAP, whatever it took, and not to comment on or hurt you personally or insinuate you were a bad person? For the first time since joining YorkieTalk, I feel it may be time to quit the forum and stop spinning my wheels trying to help people's dogs when the owner chooses to take that advice given as an amateur who has to err on the side of extreme caution, offered when I thought a dog was likely in real trouble, and subsequently see that advice to get the dog vet care whatever it took ASAP, excoriated over and over, my motives in particular called into question and twisted into something the OP seems bent on trying to make into something ugly with almost every response posted. Still, none of that matters when a bunch of online doglovers are dealing with a dog in a seeming emergent condition and trying to get it seen quickly by a vet. I'm so grateful your girl is alive and well. I hope whatever happened to her that day has been diagnosed and treatment rendered and Daisy Mae will be well from now on. |
Jeanie, everyone here is very well aware of the kind of person you are and what is in your heart. You BANISH the thought of leaving this forum, because an OP gets their panties in a wad over advice you offered with NOTHING more than an attempt to get that unfortunate pup help. Hopefully, we will not have to continue to open up her posts and CONTINUE to see this dead horse kicked around, ad nauseaum. Hopefully, she will either get over advice that was given as per her request for help, or she will follow her own first impulse and seek her help elsewhere. If she does decide to stay, perhaps she will opt to be "a good neighbor" and hopefully the remainder of the community does not have to continue to read in each and every one of her posts, individual members that have been members of this forum for a very long time, singled out by name, and berated and chastised and humiliated by this person for an honest attempt to provide options for help. There are always those members that "pile on" and complain about the way, or the tone, or the method a poster tries to give advice or help, for not being "warm and fuzzy" enough, or "too direct" or "too brutal "or "too honest".....where is the support for long time members who are now continously referred to as "bad apples", rude, unkind, etc, when this was NOT at all the case???!!! It would be gracious and kind, in my opinion, if this OP would be "called off" by someone, anyone SHE will listen to.....let it go! Stop singling out BY NAME, everytime you post, people that you do not know, who have taken their precious time to respond to YOUR desperate plea for help, in an effort to give you options. If you dont like the option given, ignore it.....stop obscessing over it, name calling, etc. I do not understand why this continual badgering and harrassing and being singled out BY NAME IN EVERY POST SHE MAKES, is allowed to continue. Dont YOU go any place Jeanie....hopefully, this obcession will soon pass.....beating a dead horse over and over and over gets REAL old. We ALL have problems and issues and disabilities that life continually shovels at us. ....she has not realized that she is not the only person that may have problems, health or financial or emotional. Do NOT give this a second thought Jeanie....you ignore this and continue to provide the wonderful, thoughtful, kind, EXPERIENCE, and useful options for solutions to the many, many people that come here, looking for help and NOT a fight. |

You handled yourself beautifully on the first thread, and here on this one as well. You have nothing to regret about your actions as you did absolutely nothing but offer your GOOD advice; advice which was ASKED for here at YT. When people read into things, take things too far and too personally - it's about their own fears and insecurities, it's not about you. Don't let it bring you too far down, bc you don't deserve to feel that way over this situation. |

Not a Mean Girl.... I have always thought a person is innocent until proven guilty. Please reread my thread, "I am Scared".... From the beginning, two YT members, made me feel I was guilty of neglect for asking what could be happening to my Daisy. The others who responded to my thread, were very polite with their advice and not accusatory in anyway...and I thank you for your kindness. You helped me through a very scary experience. For three hours, prior to my coming to YT, we tried to get help for Daisy. We went to three different veterinary offices, only to be turned away. By that time, Daisy was in no way showing any signs of illness. She was acting like her normal, active, bright-eyed self. No shivering, No hiccupping, No whining, No lethargy...No signs of sickness. We came home and my husband started calling everyone we could possibly think of to call for help or answers...I hit the internet to find possible answers an/or advice from online veterinary sites. During this frantic time, Daisy was playing with her squeaky toy, eating and wanting attention...In other words.... Acting Very Normal. We could find no one that would help a dog with no abnormal symptoms and with owner's having no way to pay for an office visit..... At the time I did not feel I needed to go into such a detailed explanation of what we had already been doing in order to just get advice from YT members. Boy oh Boy! Was I wrong. I should have given a life history not only for Daisy but for me as well. A background check attesting to my being a responsible pet owner and having no felonies for animal abuse. LOL ;) Just Joking........ IF there had been questions asked, I would have gladly answered. Jumping to negative conclusions, only showed insensitivity to a new member needing your expert advice and reassurance. Shame on you! Daisy, having no more scary episodes, continues to be healthy and her normal spunky.....and We love her dearly........ :aimeeyork |

Jeanie, you have tried to explain and explain and explain, you have apologized and apologized and apologized and apologized and asked her to understand and wished her pup only the very best......some people feel empowered and "mighty" when they find themselves in a situation where they have their foot on the throat of a "kinder, gentler soul"......there is no need for you to grovel and beg for understanding and forgivness. Your intent was clear from the beginning to those wanting help with options and to those that know you....all anyone that gets advice that they are not interested in has to do is overlook it......to constantly bring it up and beat the advisor relentlessly about the head and heart, clearly points to an insecurity and lack of sensitivity by the OP. |

My goodness, you'd think the people here flogged you given your descriptions. I HIGHLY and kindly ask that you go back and read your own thread very carefully because I can assure you that you were in NO WAY attacked or put down, nor were inappropriate assumptions made. If you feel guilty, as you state above, that is your own doing - not anyone else's as no one can make you feel things - your reactions are your own. Rather, you were given advice which *you* asked for here. And it was given with RESPECT. What more could one ask for? There is absolutely no reason to say 'shame on you' in regards to this situation, or any situation in my opinion. Where does that get anyone, how does it help the matter, how does it make things better? To me, it appears you're wanting to pour fuel on some fire that truly is not there, except in your eyes. Please let this go now, enough is enough. This thread is now closed. |
