Sammy's bump Ok so a month and a few weeks ago Sammy had a tiny little bump pop up vet thought it would heal and go away. It did not after a month and seemed to grow pretty fast so we went back a week ago and when they went to touch it, it bleed a bit so he was put on antibiotics and hydroxyzine so he would stop scratching it. I looked at it last night when he was over here and there was no change and he just looks like he doesn't feel good so my mom was going to call the vet today. Well she was up all night with him because he just kept crying and she got him into the vet this morning they put him on pain meds and are going to have to cut it off at the skin and send it away they said it would be extremely hard to remove the whole bump because where it is at (kinda under his eye/ check) that there is not a lot of extra skin. I did not go with her when I normally do. They tried to get some liquid from it and look at it under the microscope and all she could see when she did was blood. They talked a lot like it could be cancer. They said if it is they will have to refer us to a specialist for that. He is having it removed tomorrow and I know my mom has got to be worried like crazy because I know I am. Prayers and good thoughts for Sammy would be greatly appreciated. I can't help but cry right now. |
Gosh, it almost sounds like it could be the 4th premolar...but it wasn't. Hoping it's not cancer but just an abcess & all will be ok for Sammy once it's removed! |
I'll keep Sammy in my prayers. |

dog Prayers for a clean report for Sammy. Usually a cancerous lump has no pain with it. I am so glad you have him at the vet and this will be taken care of. May little Sammy be healthy and happy soon |
Best wishes and good thoughts coming your way. Such a worry for sure. Here's hoping that there will be a good outcome and that Sammy is back to himself again... soon! |
Sending prayers for your baby and I hope all goes well.Susan |
Thanks every one sorry I didn't update sooner. Sammy go out of surgery fine he was a bit groggy when we picked him up but honestly his bumped looked better being cut off even with the spot cut and his face sealed up by the surgical glue. He had another bump removed from his ear that has opened up once and was cauterized but grew back and they used two stitches on that one. He had to borrow Callie's kiss-e collar thankfully he doesn't know its pink with crowns on it lol. I tell you one the kiss-e collar is the best way to go the ones in the store are just to heavy even the one for small dogs. We will be getting him one soon after Christmas for emergency's like this I suggest every one have one on hand The Kiss-E Collar. Anyway they got it sent out today and it will be 7-10 days. We are hoping we will find out before Christmas so hopefully it will be good news and we can have a great Christmas! I will update this thread when we know. He can't play with them now but we did buy him some new toys while he was in surgery. Prayers for it to be not cancer are greatly appreciated and for healing. |
I am very happy to hear surgery went today and that Sammy is home. You have to share a picture of him in Callie's pink crown Kiss-E collar. :D Praying for good news from the test results. |

We are thinking about poor wee Sammy, x |
Update on the little guy. Last night he was still pretty sleepy. Today he has had the cone on all day and is acting like himself he is eating, drinking, running around barking and tried to play with a toy but I guess the cone made that a little hard. My mom will be bringing him over tomorrow and I can't bathe him but I'm gonna try freshening him up a little he is a bit of a mess. I will update yall tomorrow with how he is doing. |
My prayers continue... |
I'm praying for Sammy that the results will be benign. |
Prayers for Sammy. |
We'll Sammy is doing great the cone is not slowing him down much and he looks like he is healing fast! We got the call this morning from the vet and neither bumps were cancer!!! The one on his ear was an infected sweat gland and I'm not sure what they called the big one on his face but will ask my mom later. They where able to get all of the big bump on his face which they had been worried they couldn't. Thanks so much for all the prayers :D |
Yay Sammy! |
I'm thrilled all results were benign...now hope he heals completely and quickly. |
dog I am thanking the Lord, his Creator for favor to Sammy. I am so glad it came back benign. Now he can gain his strength back, get that cone off and have a lot of dog gone fun! |
I talked to my mom and she said the bumps name started with an H she has it written down. They said it was a severe allergic reaction to something and if he comes in contact with whatever it is again it could happen again but we can try a strong antibiotic and that should take care of it. |
I am very happy to hear the wonderful news! |

I'm sure that he was the receiver of a million kisses! You probably know about a leave in shampoo you can use instead of a bath at the moment, but I thought I'd throw it out there in case you didn't. I bought a product here that comes in a bottle which you just pump and foam comes out. I use this to freshen up Bailey's beard when needed. It has coconut in it and smells really good:) Cheers! |
Of course, I am SO happy to hear about the test results!! You must be soooo relieved.:) |
