Bleeding raw anus! Hello, I noticed my Yorkist was straining to have a bowel movement, I went to see what was the matter and he had a hard stool matted in his hair! I immediately put him in a warm bath let it soften up and cleaned it thoroughly and cleaning up with a baby wipe. His anus looks open. I can't describe, but I have a disturbing photo. After I cleaned him up, I sprayed some dermplast which seems to provide him some relief. Any help appreciated, out vet is closed today. Thanks |

If that is as open as it looks it is necessary to go to the ER. |

That looks bad. Go to the vet!!! |
Thanks all!!! It's been closing since, We are waiting to be seen! |
Oh my goodness, I've never soon anything like that in my life. I hope he was able to get into the vet to have his baby seen. I would assume that the poo was lodged in his anus opening which caused it to stay in a relaxed position which is why is looks enlarged. Hope he's OK !! |
OMG! That poor baby. I hope you are seen soon at the er. |
I am glad he is being seen by a Vet. Just a side note. I ALWAYS wipe my girls rear ends after they do their business, by doing this I know there is nothing stuck. |
Could an anal gland have blown open? Geez, it looks bad! I'm glad you are getting in. Let us know what the vet says. |
Any update? I'm just now seeing this, hope he's ok... |
Just checking in to see if there is any updates |

Looking for an update, please. I hope your baby is doing OK. |
oh my! poor baby, that looks painful. Please update when you can, we all want to know everything is ok! |
Oh poor baby. What was it? Is he ok now? |
Hoping and praying everything is ok. |
Hello everyone! Thanks for your concern! He is doing well, running around, eating, the norm. The vet said he's seen this before, perineal dermatitis and refers to this situation as a cratered impacted stool. He put little buddy on Clavamox antibiotic, Temaril for pain and swelling, and Entederm ointment. He is also wearing one of those e-collars. I have been sitting him in a salt/water mix per docs orders. He is recovering very well!! He hasn't had a bowel movemt since yesterday, which btw was formed, so I'm waiting on him to have one. I am now going to keep baby wipes on hand to follow up after his BM. Thanks again everyone!!! |
His sphincter has closed since! Thank goodness! The doc said the stool was trapped and didn't have anywhere to go but remain impacted :( |
Thanks for the update. I'm glad he is ok. |
Thank goodness he is ok! Thank you for updating...so glad you got him to the vet. |
So happy to hear he is recuperating...does he have the hair in that area cut close? Thinking this may keep his poops from getting stuck. Hug your little guy for me...he's been through a lot. |

I keep Winston trimmed up as well, he occasionally gets a dingle ball...but having it stuck like this would have terrified me. Again so very happy he\'s doing well now. |
Happy he\'s doing well |
Thank you for the update, glad he\'s going to be ok! |
