My small Yorkie is sick

Hi I'm new to this place ummm, I have a small female yorkie almost a yr she chews n eats anything an everything she can get her teeth on, but she's never been sick . Today she was acting very strange hasn't eaten will drink a tiny bit of water she's now pooping pure liquid blood . I'm worried she's not going to make it through the night what do I do!!!!

Roccosmommy 10-08-2013 06:14 AM

Dear God, pooping blood??? Please tell me you took this baby to an ER vet last night? Please update so we can try to help!!!

ladyjane 10-08-2013 06:25 AM

OMG I hope you went to the vet last night!! Please let us know how she is.

lovespandp 10-08-2013 08:32 AM

Goodness, I hope you were able to take her into the Vet. Poor thing.

FYI: You really need to stop her from chewing things.

Marhcarter 10-08-2013 08:34 AM

I hope this pup went to the vet last night. Would love an update. OP has not been back on since original post...:(

Yorkiemom1 10-08-2013 03:13 PM

Is this pup still alive??? I know you came looking for help, but as many people do, you have vanished with out any further update.....Please be courteous and let the people that took their time to respond to your initial post, let them know if this baby even survived. I can not even imagine someone being able to remain rational and composed, when their precious, adored little pup is hemorrhaging pure liquid blood from their rectum. I am 64 years old, a cardiovascular intensive care nurse for 35+ years, been involved/eventually breeding Yorkies since 1978....and if I EVER saw one of my babies squirting pure liquid blood from their rectum, I would have spent the precious time it took for you to email this forum, getting that dog to a vet of some kind! Unbelievable!!!

cummins 10-08-2013 03:19 PM

Please let us know how she is doing?

piinkprincess 10-08-2013 03:24 PM

POOPING CLEAR LIQUID BLOOD IS A MEDICAL EMERGENCY!!!! GET YOUR DOG TO THE ER NOW!!

ladyjane 10-08-2013 07:21 PM

I hate to say this, but sometimes I would rather not know. There have been others like this one and it is just too depressing.

This is the stuff that makes me want to never read another help post...but we have to because there are people who we can help.

Sick Yorkie

I am a different yorkie mom. I don't know how to use a computer well or the difference between a post and thread. My little Benji is in the Hospital after eating chocolate she found some where. I m visiting a friend. She threw up blood I took her to the vet ad she has pancreatitis. will it go away? The doctor says she will get better. I am a wreck. Has this happened to anyone else? I am on an island in the Caribbean.

Scoobstersmom 10-09-2013 05:45 AM

With good supportive care, there is every chance your yorkie will recover. My little guy has had it twice and been pretty miserable both times. Once a dog has had an acute pancreatitic attack, they are more susceptible to getting it again at any point so you will have to watch his diet and feed him low fat from now on. Hopefully he'll be fine. Keep us posted.

Yikes:( So sorry to hear about the chocolate monger:( So glad that you took her immediately to the vet and that she is ok. I am not versed in Yorkies, so cannot give any advice here, but just wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts. Cheers!

Yorkie with chocolate Pancreatitis

My little Benji is still at Vet in St Maarten Animal Hospital. He said he wants to retest today keep her on intravenous until this afternoon and then see if she can keep down slush(?) I'm so emotional .im retired and live alone and my little Benji (yorkie) and little Spirit (chihuhua ) are my babies. Couldn't sleep last night and now I cant get her back yet. The Vet who is wonderful said her Pancreatic test came back so high that his new machine couldn't even register it. Something over 2500. But he said he wouldn't let her die and she will get better. Still I'm so sad and it hurts so much. I'm so glad you all wrote me back .it made me feel better to see it and read it. You all understand, so many people feel its sad but after all it's a dog. Not to me I love her so much it's just like a person. She makes me smile all day and snuggles up to me at night. My little Chihuahua misses her too. He keeps listening for every sound that might be her. Sorry to go on and on. God has been so good to me because I had no idea she had eaten chocolate until the next morning when she threw up the blood. Plus I live on another island and have to come over on a boat to see the vet, but I was already here visiting a friend. She could have died over night . Thanks or your prayers. I promise I will keep you posted on my little Benji.

cummins 10-09-2013 08:50 AM

Praying that you can bring her home soon

Yorkie with chocolate pancreatitis

Thank you for your prayers .I went to visit my little baby Benji today
Her Bum is still high but lower than it was , but her kidneys that were normal
are slightly elevated. She cried so much the vet let me take her home for the
night but I have to take her back at 7:30 Tom morning. She's so happy
she ate but hasn't drank anything. Main thing she is not going to die. I'm so
happy that I feel drained. I thank you all for your quick replies. I wish I knew
how to send pictures of my Benji but I tried to copy and paste it won't let me.
Anyway she's beautiful, sweet and cuddly . I love looking at everybody's pictures of their little ones. Will keep you posted .God Bless you all.

Scoobstersmom 10-09-2013 04:58 PM

Hi. Benjy probably isn't drinking because, with the IV fluids, she is well hydrated. That she's eating is a very good sign.

Well I posted a really long reply explaining what happened, my neighbor poisoned her with boric acid a full bottle of powder boric acid mixed in with meat , bc he thought my dog was the one from next door that wouldn't stop barking so this man killed my neighbors dog who looks identical to my dog an he thought the dog didn't die so he poisoned mine thinking it was the other dog. So from dealing with vets the neighbors n the police then having to put my dog to sleep bc she was suffering an agonizing death then having to bury her has been very heart wrenching , so no sorry didn't have time to jump on here in the middle of all that to explain bc I was shocked at what n why this happened to my dog . Thank you for those who were being nice Her name was Shasta she was black n white very tiny bc she was the smallest from her liter . It amazes me how rude ppl can be seriously !!!!!

Bellabean 10-09-2013 06:58 PM

I am so sorry for your loss! Neither you nor Shasta should have had to suffer like that. I don't think anyone was trying to be rude, we were all VERY concerned. My prayers are with you. I hope some type of legal action was taken against this neighbor!!

And when that was posted we were already rushing to the ER VET!!!!!

yorkietalkjilly 10-09-2013 07:15 PM

Oh, that is so tragic and just unthinkable, heartbreaking that you have been through such an awful time. Any time one sees much blood coming from any orifice of a dog, it's a good rule of thumb to just get them to the vet ASAP, even if it's the middle of the night most of us have access to ER vets and your terrible situation just drives that home to me. I'm so horrified to hear what happened and know you must have been walking around in shock and fear and disbelief! I'm sorrier than I can say that that awful guy acted so insanely to kill innocent dogs over barking!!! I was a victim of harassing barking for years and I wouldn't have hurt the dogs doing it and keeping my life miserable for anything - it simply isn't the poor dog's fault, even if it is barking. Sorry, didn't mean to stray off subject there but I feel so bad about the dogs being murdered over a dog barking! Even the little barking one didn't ever deserve that!

If anyone here made any remark you thought was rude - and I don't want to step on any toes here and apologize for others as we can all speak for ourselves - I'm certain that they were just scared and worried about your dog and wanted badly to hear back. This online community really cares about the dogs' problems posted here and after hearing of one ill, suffering, you quickly become attached to that dog in a strange way. You just care and want to hear how the little thing is doing. There is just something about the act of reading about one hurting and ill, reading the other replies and posting a reply that really involves you with that dog and the poster. Then you want to hear how the dog is doing so badly and you get scared for the dog when you don't hear back, never for a moment guessing that the owner could be going through Hell such as you were. There's no way anyone could know or possibly even guess you were dealing with a poisoned pet. People here are not mean or nasty and would never on purpose upset someone going through what you've just been through with your little one.

I'm so sorry that your baby was killed so horribly and pray that you got her to the vet ASAP and they were able to ease her some before the euthanasia had to be done. Such an awful tragedy it is just impossible to imagine how you are even getting through this. I can only hope and pray that you have family or friends who can help you and comfort you and help you get through this most awful of times.

Rest and take care of yourself for now, get some medical help if you need it and even seek some counseling if you need it to help yourself cope. When you feel better, tell us more about Shasta and share some pictures but for now, hang on to your good memories of her and know that there are many here who will be praying to help you find some peace and hope for a better tomorrow. God bless.

Skyster 10-09-2013 07:26 PM

Thank you Bellabean . An yes we are gonna take action against the neighbor , the police did arrest him. I wanna do whatever is possible to make sure this man pays for doing what he did not only to my dog but the other neighbors as well . Just sickening what this man did . I'm sick with ovarian cancer so my yorkies are my babies they never leave my side anywhere I am they are right there they comfort me a lot plus they are spoiled to death . I love having these precious animals . So losing one is like losing a child . I'm even more overprotective of them now n I thought I was bad about it before .

Doodlebug 10-09-2013 07:36 PM

OMG how awful. I am so sorry you had to go through something so horrible.

Heaven forbid it should happen again, perhaps you should run to a vet immediately rather than telling a forum full of dog lovers that you are watching blood pour out of your dog. Or...better yet...she was sick all day. When my pups are sick all day I take them to the vet...hopefully you have learned for the future should you have another tiny pup. They really go down quickly. Immediate vet care is very important when they are sick.

RIP Shasta
