I just don't understand how someone can clip onto the skin.:( Could she have rolled around or rubbed her head & the clip accidentally got stuck that way? Quote:

I never put topknots on Paris I usually clipped him short. Hope everything is alright. |
Thank you all for your comments! We went to the vet first thing in the morning. She, too, couldn't believe the groomer could be that careless. Maggie is ok. The skin in the center of the pinched up part will fall off as it is dead. On the edges, it's still alive, so she may heal with horns?! I got a tiny giggle out of that because don't they all act like they have horns sometimes? The vet can't determine how it will heal so we're going to be very, very cautious and watch it non-stop (Maggie can go to work with me at my job, so she's been my shadow). If anything is starting to heal a little funny, we'll go back to the vet and let them clean it up however needed. Also, we're giving her antibiotics twice a day. I called the groomer and let them know how angry I am. They were also disturbed and couldn't believe that happened. The office manager didn't even know they had bows with clips and was running back that minute to tell the groomers to never use them again. She said she'd need to check with corporate about how they will compensate me for my vet bills. (We went to a VCA, which isn't our usual groomer...it's corporate) She eventually called back and left me a voicemail saying that they could credit me for vet or groomer work there even though she understands if that makes me uneasy. OR corporate could cut me a check after a fill out a W9. That could take up to 8 weeks. I'm furious. I need to call them back Tuesday and let her know what I decide. |
Glad to hear you took Maggie to the vet and that she is doing well. I can't believe they are offering credit for vet bills OR grooming. Should be both! The vet and antibiotics I imagine would be more than the grooming. I would hold off because you don't know if Maggie will need additional care for this. Glad your communication with the groomer will prevent other doggies from suffering this kind of injury. |

I've never hear of such a thing happening, how careless of them. So glad a baby girl is on the road to recovery and that the groomers is willing to work with you. |
You should absolutely go tell the groomers supervisor of what happened. It is not right that you go to the vet and get her better and let the groomer not know about it is vey important for the groomer and the groomers supervisor to know. I am a dog groomer and at school they always taught me too place a bow very far away from the skin because it can cause a lot of damage to the dog and discomfort in the future. Hopefully everything gets better good luck and keep us updated. |
Glad she is doing ok. My groomer has never used a clipped bow. I will occasionally, but I clip them above the rubber and and only for pictures. Glad they are working with you to cover expenses, but I'd definitly not settle until you're sure about further treatment costs. |
