Scary situation but sounds like Peek rallied. So glad he's better. |
Poor Peek a Boo. I can imagine how scared you were to see his purple gums. Keeping him in my prayers. |

Up at 4:30AM, he ate and drank (with minimal assistance), then went on to steal some cat food (which he has done all his life) and then stole some of Finny's food, and got into an argument with her. His last bloodwork showed only the beginnings of Renal Failure, all else was good. He's been on Hill's Prescription K/D for the most part, plus what he steals. I have limited him somewhat, but he is a thief, and is happiest practicing his art of thievery. Thieving is such an ingrained part of his personality, that he gets very depressed if I stop it completely. So I try to balance keeping him happy with keeping him healthy. The past 2 days I noticed his tummy/abdomen being distended. Now I'm thinking ascites, and with his purple gums yesterday, he's most likely having CHF. He was acting fine, his normal self and routines, until yesterday. I noticed him having a bit of difficulty breathing... seemed to require slightly more effort than normal. He's sleeping now and his breathing has returned to normal. I decided not to go to the vet right away, as he gets very stressed, and stress alone can push him over the edge. As he seems a bit stronger now, I am planning on having a vet evaluate him and see if there's anything that can be done to help him. Trying to decide if I should take him to a different vet today, or wait until Monday and have his regular vet see him. Probably will go today. |
I've been thinking about you and PeekABoo all night. Sending good thoughts, hugs and prayers for both of you. |
Oh my goodness Kathy - you're not having a very good time all round, are you..... You and Peek are in my thoughts and prayers, love and a hug from Harry + I xxx |
I'm just now seeing this, Kathy! I'm so sorry PeekABoo is not feeling well. You must be so worried. You both are in my prayers. |
Geesh...I must seem like such a callous person Kathy :( Please know that now that I know, I'll be keeping both of you in my thoughts & prayers. |
Keeping you and Peek in my thoughts and prayers ! |
Praying! |
Went through the same (renal failure and CHF) with my first two! It's hard!! Hope for the best for Peek and you! My 7yr old is now experiencing signs of kidney issues and has also been on a renal diet for a few years! Benjamin also likes stealing my puppies food! I am a new mom once again to two 9 1/2 month Yorkies and a 5 month old! Again, all the best to you and Peek, |
Continued prayers for you and Peek a Boo |
I am sorry, Kathy. Renal and cardiac issues are so difficult in the seniors. I will keep your Peek A Boo and you in my thoughts and prayers. |
