Thank you all for all your thoughts and prayers for us, especially for my Peekaboo.
Peek seemed fine this morning, Dh said he had been up and about. I came in from working in the yard and for some reason I stopped to check on him. His gums were purple and he couldn't/wouldn't walk. I picked him up and sat holding him for a bit, and his color returned to normal. Still couldn't walk... so I hand fed and watered him... he ate a jar of chicken baby food and about 5 droppers of water. He seemed content and not in pain so I held him for a few hours.
I was thinking his time is near, which may still be the case. I went through all those hard questions: to the vet now or no, PTS or no, how to care for him at home, in between all my crying and loving on him. I tried to put him in his bed, he wanted to stay in my arms so we sat some more. Then I decided to take him outside, bc he loves going for walks.
He sniffed the air (I carried him) and I put him down to sniff his favorite plant, hoping he would pee. He sat. I carried him over to a grassy area and laid him there... he sniffed around some more and seemed a bit more cognizant, so I carried him down to see his favorite person, Miss Jackie (our walking partner). I cried some more as I told her what was going on, so she walked us back to the house and we went inside and I put Peek in his bed near the kitchen so he could see me and vice versa. He took a nap, and when he woke I fixed his food and handfed him again. His appetite is good, so I put him back in his bed to check on Tink. Next thing I know Peek is behind me peeing on the floor (two feet from the pad but who cares, lol) and then he walked around and pooped. Yes... he walked unaided, and then proceeded to walk into the bedroom and got in his bed and went to sleep.
Then DH tells me Peek was up wandering quite a bit last night, not just this morning. So he may have been overtired. As he seems to be improving and not in any pain, we'll wait and go to the vet tomorrow, if necessary...
Peek has been very healthy, only minor issues in his 16.5 years. He's not taking meds for anything now. |
