Please help us!!! Irvin is our 4 month old Yorkie puppy. He took a fall and has fractured his little leg. The only way to fix him is to have surgery that is very costly. He was a graduation gift to my 5 year old daughter. We just relocated and would hate to lose him. He's the only little piece of "home" that we have. We are in DIRE need to have a complex surgical procedure. Without it, he will lose his leg or be surrendered. |

Apply for Care Credit, or any credit card... and start selling anything you have of value. |
I would definitely suggest applying for Care Credit. It is not fair that he should suffer just because you can't afford the surgery. If you can't get Care Credit, I would recommend that you surrender him to a rescue that can afford the care that he needs. |
Perhaps you can find help with these links. If not, I strongly urge you to contact a reputable rescue and surrender him for appropriate care. While I know it hurts to do that, he needs care ... good luck to you. Oh, and if you choose a rescue, in Florida, I would suggest United Yorkie Rescue. They will fix the leg. Some groups will amputate and I find that to be disturbing. Feel free to message me if you need information. And I am very sorry for your dilemma. Did you not buy pet insurance? If not, well. You should have. And also threads soliciting donations will be deleted. |

And I do hope this OP does find a way to help out this pup. |
I am in Atlanta. Every emergency vet in the area has applications for Care Credit right on their front desk. If you don't see it, ask. |
Just curious: What does a 5-year-old graduate from that warrants a puppy as a gift? How did the puppy break it's leg? Your first post was last night & you haven't come back on to give us an update? |

Why is that important? |

Uhm duhh of we could use insurance we wouldn't even be discussing this. FYI we has him just over a month and the insurance we applied for can't be used because he was injured during the waiting period. |
Siba3000 I see that you are on line, talk to us tell us what is happening. I'm thinking that you got a Yorkie for your 5 year olds Kindergarden graduation and you really don't know a lot about Yorkies. It doesn't matter NOW what happened but could you tell us so we can try to help you? We often see people who get pups and don't know a thing about them and then like you come on here begging for help...unfortunately we see it a lot...I was once like you, I had no idea they had Pet Insurance, I didn't know what kind of specialist to take my dog to...heck I didn't even know there were specialists for dogs until I came here and all these people taught me so much.... There is so much information here for you to learn, if you tell us what is going on. |
I just want to say that some of you come off more condescending than concerned. When someone is going through an emergency with their pet the last thing they want to read is what they should have done. It doesn't change what did happen. Smh. You people disgust me with your rude comments. To whoever said why I didn't give an update since last night...I'm sorry I have a LIFE that doesn't include sitting on the PC all day replying to threads. I was busy caring for my dog and child if you MUST know :-) Update: the dog is fine. He's splinted. I had a dog break a leg before and it healed in a cast. Since his leg isn't as badly broken as that dog, we are trying to splint it. Vets always push surgery. I'm a nurse and I know sometimes it's all about whatever makes more money. For those of you who were sincerely concerned, thanks. |
No actually I know A LOT about Yorkies About dogs in general. I'm not a new dog owner. Smh |
I posted on here NOT to be spoken to like I did something wrong but simply to get the word out about my dog. None of you have told me anything I didn't know already. |
What part of his leg did he break? is it broke or fractured? |

Since she is a nurse, she knows what is wrong with the leg, she knows about growth plates, etc, she knows what needs to be done to treat any specific break....good thing everyone didnt grab their purse and send hundreds of dollars to cover treating a severe break that was going to result "in having pups leg amputated or needed to be surrendered so medical care could be provided"......all pup needed was a splint! As a nurse, I am sure she knows what the outcome will be with a splint on that "break", and pup will be good as new, with an appropriate healing of the injury!....no lameness or crooked leg, etc......She should change vets if she thinks he is trying to soak her for $$$$.... |
Casting these puppies sadly usually does not work. It CAN work, but normally does not. A board certified surgeon would be the best option for a correct treatment. I would hate to see him heal incorrectly and be crippled...or at the worse, end up losing a leg. Sadly, I have seen this happen. If I were you, I would be looking at selling something so that I had some money in case this splint/cast or whatever does not work. Of course, at that point, it might be more than your original estimate because he will probably need bone grafting. Hopefully since you are a nurse you did go to a specialist, but given that it is a weekend, I doubt it. I will pray for this yorkie. I don't know what else to say at this point. |

And that is coming from another nurse. My nursing degree taught me ZIP about leg fractures in yorkies. What I know I have learned from experience and dealing with many fractured legs in yorkies not to mention a bunch of other conditions. |

You know as well as I do that leg PROBABLY needs an ORIF....by a ortho specialist!!!!....she has put a SPLINT on it.....that is not even a cast!!! You KNOW that leg didnt go from being severe enough to possibly need amputation, to only needing a splint!!! And you are absolutely correct....this leg will end up deformed, at the very least.....hopefully this "well informed nurse" will seek the proper treatment needed to this pup and not just the cheapest way out.....and hopefully, if she thinks her vet misdiagnosed the severity of the break, going from possible amputation to a simple splint, and she thinks he recommended surgery just to get the money, she needs to change vets! |

Your first post on YT was to inform us "We are in DIRE need to have a complex surgical procedure. Without it, he will lose his leg or be surrendered" & I believe you asked for money. Now "the dog is fine. He's splinted." Great, I hope he's fine. |

Yep, just here to ask for money, and still trying to raise money through other venues. No problem though with affording a fancy phone, getting treats at Dunkin Donuts, and getting her nails done. This has been going on for days .... this poor little Irvin needs to be surrendered and taken care of immediately. :( .@siba3000 (iSiba) 's Instagram photos | Webstagram - the best Instagram viewer And feel free to "smh" at me, I don't give a flyin' flip. |
