Max is Holding His Paw Up & Limping 1 Attachment(s) Two days ago I came home to find Max hobbling over to me. He was completely holding his paw up about 4 inches off the ground as he walked on 3 legs. I examined his paw to the best of my ability and didn't see anything wrong. I also was unable to isolate the issue to one particular location. I gave him crate rest for about 6 hours and he was absolutely perfect for the rest of the evening. The next morning he seemed fine and then at random he started holding his paw up again. It seemed to resolve itself about 20 minutes later and he took it easy that day. His leg appeared perfect the rest of the day. Sadly, though, I'm an idiot. Last night I threw a ball to Cooper and Max ran after it. Since then Max can almost not walk and he's certainly not better today. He just wanted to lay down. I assume he's hurting :( We have a vet appointment at 5pm. Most of you who know me know that I would take my dogs to the vet immediately upon seeing anything wrong. However, both of my dogs have been in and out of the vet this month (at least 4x each) for annual checkups, crystals/stones, ear infections, microchipping, vaccines, personal male issues, etc. I'm a total hypochondriac so wanted to see if the issue resolved itself. Please keep Max in your thoughts today. I hope it's not serious. Attachment 389306 |
Ppor Max looks so sad in his crate... I know it just breaks your heart. Hope it isn't anything serious. Certainly would be easier if dogs could talk and tell us what hurts and how it happened. |
Awww poor Max! :( Hope all is well tonight with his leg! |
Aw, Karen and Max :(. So sorry the little guy is hurting. I hope you're able to find out what's causing it. Please keep us posted. You'll both be in our thoughts - all our paws are crossed down here. |
Praying for the Maxman! Hope it's a minor thing... |
I'm sorry Max has injured his leg/paw...we'll be praying for him; please keep us updated. Poor li'l man looks so bummed out. :( |
Sending pryers to Max and hopefully it isn't anything serious..Poor little guy looks so sad in his kennel. |
Poor little Max. I know you will go to the ends of the earth to care for him. I hope a simple rest will heal him. |
Hoping its nothing serious. Sending prayers |
Karen, I'm sorry to hear Max paw's hurting. I wonder if there could be something very tiny stuck between his toes? Bless his heart, he does look sad. Praying it won't be anything serious. I'll be watching for an update. Hugs to you Max. ;) |
Thanks everyone. He's resting in his crate which he doesn't ever seem to mind. He has strained his hip before twice when he was younger so I'm hopeful it's just some pain meds and crate rest. I will keep everyone posted. |
praying with rest he finds complete improvement. |
Oh no poor Max, he looks so sad! I hope he'll be ok & it's nothing serious. |
Hoping for good news. I'm sure you are en route to the vet now  |
Aww, poor Max. I just hate to see them hurting. I hope you get good news. |
Poor sweet Max. He's not thrilled in that picture it's obvious but he sure is cute. I hope it's nothing serious and the vet can get him back on track soon. Maybe just a strain or sprain - hoping for the best. Hoping you hear he's going to be fine today. Tibbe is sending Max a big hug. |
1 Attachment(s) Thank you for your well wishes. We are home! It was the best case scenario. Max popped his knee out and the vet put it back in place. I wasn't strict enough with crate rest so he continued to injure it causing more inflammation. I also opted for x-rays which showed nothing out of the ordinary. Now he's on crate rest, anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxer meds for 7 days. Here's a photo of Max when I asked him if he wanted to go home. Attachment 389366 |
Awww. glad it's nothing too bad. |
Great news!!! That dog of your takes the sweetest pictures! He's a true dog actor with such an expressive face and the camera loves him, doesn't it? Hope he feels better very, very soon and is back to his Max-y lifestyle. |
I'm so glad it was good news. Max is so adorable. I love when they cock their heads. |
Yay! And cuteness overload! WTG! |
