For sure. I am so frustrated. I hate seeing him like this. I can tell he doesn't feel well and it breaks my heart. I need to move quick. I can't stand it. I love hearing his feet tapping behind me everywhere I go in the house but now he just lays around. :( I only hear the tapping a third of the time now. He's taking Rimadyl ( Carprofen) 25 mg 1/4 pill one in the morning and ibe at night and Tramadol 50mg 1/4 pill morning and night. |

Thank you. I appreciate it. |

Did you check that link to find a specialist close to you? |
Here is one that looks good in Irvine...this is a link to their surgery department. If you call them and tell them your pup is in pain they should fit you in quickly. Surgery |
He is walking around more but just not as mush as I am use too. He's much better than when it first happened, that's for sure. Things like how he'd start playing with everything while I clean the house. He gets all into a toy he picks while I clean. It's too cute and I love the company. Those types things aren't happening right now. I'm sure you know what I mean. You have one. :) I am going to start researching the links soon. I have to submit a math test before 9 my time and it's hard so I need to get it out of the way. I'll be looking at those links soon and calling tomorrow. |
Okies, keep us posted! :) |
Up late researching diet and supplements and ended up ordering him some flexoplex. haha. It comes with free green tea extract too. :) First step to recovery. Now I need to figure out a diet plan. Ok off to bed I go. I need some sleep. I work in 7 hours. blah. |
good luck with the specialist// keep us updated |
I will. I love updating here. Keeps me going. :) He seems much better today. I didn't give him his medicine last night because of how drowsy it makes him and he seems better without it. He's playing this morning and even jumped up on the bed. Maybe I'll just stick to the anti--inflammatory? Looking into the specialist today as soon as I get a chance. That one in Irvine looks like a really nice place, but Irvine is quite a drive. I'll see if I can find something a little closer. |
prayers for continued improvement for charlie. |
How did I miss this? Just seeing this thread and reading about Charlie! I'm so sorry that sweet boy is going through this pain and trouble and so glad to hear he's doing a little better. Hoping that the specialist will offer you some real help for him! I'm praying for your sweet Charlie. |

So happy to hear Charlie is feeling more like himself. Please do keep us updated, anxious to hear what the specialist opinion is. My first Yorkie, Spencer, had a luxating patella that would pop out and my vet just showed me how to pop it back in place...never had surgery...never needed it. Obviously there are different stages and it is possible Charlie's is more advanced...but I am very curious to see what he says. |

So am I. Praying for the best. Thank you. |
Ditto...praying!!! |
Christine, I'm just now seeing this. Sorry to hear about Charlie's issue and hope you can see a specialist to get a clear diagnosis. You really need to do this ASAP as the longer you wait the worse off he may be (although he appears active). |
Don't worry. I am on it. I have enough common sense to know not to let something like this not be cared for. I love my little guy. :) I contacted one lady named Dr. Larson and got a vm. I left a message explaining my situation and am still waiting for a call. I will keep you guys updated. |
Does anyone have any diet suggestions. I am looking for something to help bring a little weight off as well as have the right nutrition. It's not an easy find - these recipes that is. I am will (and prefer at this point) to prepare it myself. I'll browse the food and diet section too. |
dog I will pray for Charlie to get better. I had a Yorkie that jumped off the couch and was limping around. It got better after some rest. Perhaps he did that. I hope he is eating and becoming himself again. Their little legs do pop in and out. My Yorkies have that happen. Now I hope he is better. |

I pray your little boy heals from his injury. It's so heartbreaking to see our little ones hurt, and as much as we can try to shield them from harm, sometimes we can't protect them from everything. |

Awesome. Thanks so much for the websites. I will check them out. Thank you for the well wishes. It is tough with they aren't 100%. You look into their eyes and know they depend on you even though they don't know it and wouldn't even judge you if you didn't take care of them right. That's the crazy part and the part that gets most of us I'm sure. If that makes any sense. I'm sure it does. |
I am so sorry for Charlie, you and your daughter. Buster was diagnosed with a grade 3/4 LP in both his back legs. I went to Dr Scott Anderson at Animal Specialty & Emergency on Sepulveda in LA. He recommended only doing the knee that was bothering him at the time. That was over two years ago and his other leg has been fine. Buster was sedated for his X-rays. Sending prayers and best wishes. |

Seeing this now. Sending prayers for Charlie. |
How cool. The vet herself personally called me to talk to me. She said she's more of a mobile surgeon that works out of other offices as needed and usually through referrals but gave me a contact to call to make an appt to see her through them. I'm not sure if I somehow stumbled across her personal contact info or what. anyway. I thought that was neat. The ball is starting to roll. I was just about to start making more contacts. Glad she called me. |

Thank you! I will note the information. The place I am calling is 310 area code too. It's in Torrence. The Dr's probably know each other. lol |

Update. We have an appointment with the surgeon next Wednesday, July 3rd at 4:00 pm. In the meantime I will make sure he doesn't jump off stuff and keep an eye on him. He doesn't seem to be in pain anymore nor is he limping. I stopped giving him the medicine the next day after he started - so he's not on pain meds and seems fine. He's barking at neighbors and playing as usual so I think we'll be ok until the appt. She seems really nice and so did the staff that called me. They were very quick and worked me in next week even though she doesn't usually work that day. |
This also gives me time to get funds so we can jump into treatment right away if it's needed. I have bins full of name brand jeans that I am getting to work listing and selling on ebay. It will work. People will buy them. I use to sell them all the time. :) |
