Pixie has a really bad UTI During the night Pixie kept wanting to go out. I wiped her and it was all blood. I got a sample and they had an appointment open at 9:30. So I took her in and the vet said he didn't even have to check the lab he could see the urine was one of the worst he had seen. He did check the lab to confirm. So they put her on Clavimox for 10 days. I also talked to him about her terrible noise anxiety and he put her on Prozac. I am going to wait to start the Prozac to see how she does once the UTI is cleared up. Please keep Pixie in your prayers as she has been so stressed. Thanks |
I hope Pixie feels better soon |
I certainly will pray for Pixie. She must be in pain with this. Princess Sophie had a UTI shortly after she came to live with us so I know what strain you are under. I hope she begins feeling better very soon. My vet said they start to get some relief after the first day on meds. That should help you. |
Oh Patti, I am so sorry Pixie has a horrible UTI. I pray that Pixie is feeling better soon. Those UTI's are nasty and they can cause pain. |
Poor baby.....how do dogs get UTI's? Is it like adults when we don't drink enough water or when they get bacteria in the urine track? Just curious! I hope she feels better real soon....it has to be painful! |
I'll pray that she gets better real soon. Do you have any idea what caused it? |
Poor girl, I hope the UTI clears up quickly! |
Oh bless her little heart. Maybe that is causing some of her anxiety. Praying for Pixie and you Patti. |
Thanks. I don't know what causes them. I know she hasn't been drinking as much lately. I am going to make sure she gets more fluids. I am wondering too if some of her anxiety is due to the UTI. I am going to hold off on the Prozac to see if once the antibiotics kick in. If she is still just as stressed I will start the Prozac. Thanks Diane, that's good to know. |
Awww poor Pixie. Ill be thinking of her! |

I hope the meds have her feeling better soon and you dont need the prozac |
Poor Pixie! Praying the antibiotic takes care of her infection fast. That would be wonderful if that also helped relieve some of her anxiety. I'm glad you have the Prozac for backup. |
Just seeing this. I'm so sorry about Pixie's UTI :( Praying the meds work quickly for her! |
Aww, I hope things get better quickly, poor Pixie. |
Oh no poor Pixie! Hope the antibiotics clears it up & she'll be ok...hope her anxiety lessens too! |

I hope Pixie has a quick recovery. Hugs |
My heart breaks for you and Pixie. I pray that she gets better soon and also that her fear lessens. I know this is such a difficult day and time for you, and I'm so very sorry. I hope today also brought beautiful memories of your lifetime of love shared with Ken. I truly hope that life gets easier for you. I really care. |
Thanks so much Lisa! It means a lot. I too am hoping Pixie's anxiety lessens when the infection clears up. She is pretty wiped out right now. Thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers. |
So sorry for Pixie, and hope she makes a speedy recovery. That must have been very scarey to see blood like that, and to know she is in pain. |
Hope Pixie feels better soon... Hugs to you Patti. |
So sorry about pixie. Jess had one months ago. I also noticed she was licking herself in the lady parts area. So now i have trained her. If i see her goi g towards that area i say "uh uh no lady parts" a d she stopped. Now she does t do it at all anymore and no more uti's |
I feel so bad for you and Pixie. I pray that her anxiety lessens when she feels better from the UTI. Poor baby must feel so miserable and who knows how long she has been feeling rough. Hugs to you, Patti. I am praying! |
Hope she is doing better!! |
Just now seeing this. Hope Pixie is feeling better. |
My little Milo has to be reminded to drink water, so I lead him to his bowl about a dozen times (if not more) a day & remind him. DH says I'm worse than a mother hen---LOL. I have read that they need one ounce of water for each pound of weight. First thing each morning I pour in 3/4 of a cup & watch it all day, trying to make sure he drinks at least that much. Sometimes he drinks it & sometimes he doesn't. Please keep us posted on her progress. |
Just checking in to see how you and Pixie are doing today. Hope things are better. |
Thanks Pixie seems to be doing better as far as the UTI. She is still having major issues with anxiety. Today she seems depressed too. I haven't started the Prozac yet. I ordered some holistic medicine I want to try first. I hate putting her on it until I have tried every thing else. Hopefully she will get back to normal soon. |
