Skin Around Anus Is Black And Crusty?

Hello, My name is Michelle.
One day I noticed my yorkie had black around her anus all of a sudden. Vet told me that it was just a discoloration, but Im not sure if I believe them. I am worried as well, due to it never used to look like this. It showed up at four years of age and she is five now.

Welcome to Yorkie Talk, Michelle. My Teddy had a couple of dark spots on his anus for almost a year. When I first saw them, I thought he just needed a wash. They were not dark black. He had no anal sack problems, so I wasn't too worried. They eventually went away.

If there is any swelling, or the blackness is more on the skin part, or if your doggy licks or chews her back end, or scoots, shows any signs of discomfort or difficulty eliminating, then I would press your vet. Or seek a second opinion from another doctor.
