I am so sorry about Dolly, I hope the specialist can do all they can to help her. Will keep Dolly in my prayers. |
Thank you! |
When you called them for the appointment, did you explain about the surgery and your concerns? Just wondering if the wait might be a bit long?? Perhaps not...they would know best. |
Sending prayers for you and Dolly.....may you get the answers you need and healing & strength for little Dolly! God Bless you both! |
First I called a specialty clinic & their prices were enormous. There was one other place to call & they have a specialist come in from CSU Veterinary Hospital 3 days every month. (I lived in Denver for many years & that is where everyone brought their dogs with cancer-they're the best. So when this happened to Dolly last week my first thought was I wish I still lived close to CSU.) I'm leaving town for 2 weeks in the middle of June, so the timing was good for me. I am, however, going to send an email to this Dr. (Dennis Macy) & run the situation by him. Prices were reasonable & I'm happy to have this specialist. |

BTW, if any work needs to be done the doctor would be able to do it that day. |

I want to add my thoughts and prayers are with you and Dolly. Please do keep us updated. My groomers dog had the very same thing but on his lower leg/paw...she wished she had done the wider excision because his did come back, now they are doing more radiation to try and shrink it. |
When making the appointment with the specialist the receptionist said I should email the Dr. & let him know about our situation. I wrote him this morning & a few hours later had this response: "Annie, don't worry we can handle it. it is likely we will just inject the current surgical scar given its a grade one with complete margins, we may aspirate a lymph node but i think this will be fine. Bring the path report with you". I'm feeling better already! |

Update!! Great news!! This morning we finally saw a fantastic specialist for Dolly's cancer. He researched, treated, taught & wrote about cancer in animals for 40 years. He's retired now & helping an old student 3 days a week in LV. He said he wouldn't have removed the bump that the vet removed during teeth cleaning because the removal releases something (antihistamine?) that can dangerously lower blood pressure. He'd have left the bump & injected it with something(?). So now he's going to inject the site with a steroid 3 times at monthly intervals. He said Dolly's prognosis is excellent health the rest of her life, this was just a little glitch. What a great feeling to have nothing to worry about & to know I have a nationally known specialist on my side! Dolly's very happy she doesn't have to undergo additional surgery & Mommy's happy to save $700. Thanks everyone for caring about the outcome. |
Excellent prognosis and outcome!!!! |
