| ![]() Today is one of the hardest day of my life. I took care of my best friends dog for 3 days and her dog was diagnosed Friday night with Parvovirus. She called me at 2 in the morning on Thursday and told me that all my dogs needed to be checked. So Friday morning I took my 2 chihuahuas and Bentley and the vet suggested to wait until they have symptoms because there's a incubation period and it show a false negative even though I explained Bentley had diareah. On Sunday Bentley seemed very down, not playful. This morning my 6 month old Bentley threw up clear and had horrible diarrhea. I went to the vet and they did the Snap parvovirus test is showed positive they immediately took him to the back and put IVs. Blood test showed he was anemic. The vet said chance or survival is 60%. Im terrified, I was balling crying couldn't believe my baby really caught this horrible disease. I brought my other chihuahua Nina and again another positive, the hardest thing in the world was leaving them there. I have another chihuahua who may be positive too. My hearts is so heavy, I can't stand the thought of loosing my babies. This couldn't have come at a more horrible time, Im a full time student and I don't work. I was not expecting this, no matter how careful you are there's just no telling. Im so sad, I see the chihuahua strong but my yorkie Bentley was so weak. Please pray for my babies, I've never gone through anything like this. |

| ![]() That is devastating ![]() Had your dogs not had their shots? I thought the shots prevented parvo? Does anyone else know, for sure?

| ![]() I am so, so sorry. I will pray for all of your babies. I'm sure your vet has talked with you about disinfecting your home while your babies are being treated. I hope your babies get better. I know how afraid you are, and I care. |

| ![]() Yes they have had the shots all up to date, the vet said there's different types of Parvovirus and puppies below 1 year are more susceptible to it. The shots make it less likely but can still happen. Specially if you take them to a pet store or dog park. |

| ![]() I feel so bad for you...parvo is vicious and you can not let your guard down for a moment....see if you can start right now making pleas to your vet to allow you to set up a payment plan for the medical bills this is going to run up. Had your friends puppy had its shots yet? People do not understand why I am CRAZY about this disease....but this is exactly why NO dogs are allowed on my property or in my home, ever. Now......if your friend is much of a friend, she is going to step up and help you with your vet bills that are because of HER puppy. Meanwhile, I am praying for your baby...your babies. You need to go on line and purchase Virkon...that kills parvo vrus....you need to clean your entire home, whereever you have walked, where ever that sick puppy walked, and where ever YOUR baby walked......Clorox DOES NOT KILL THE PARVO VIRUS SO DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. Virkon will kill the virus on contact, and it is totally safe around your pets after it has dried. Good luck with this.....I am praying for your baby....this is curable but it takes a terrible toll on the baby and you.... |

YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() Oh no.....this is so scary! I have heard, even though they have all their shots, there is the possibility they can still get parvo. Prayers for your babies. Prayer to heal, strengthen and the will power to rise above! Hugs to you at this difficult time! ![]()

| ![]() Thank you guys yes my vet is charging me $550 per dog which is reasonable but for 2 dogs its a hard blow and my third one may be infected too. It's so sad Im so anxious, I can't imagine what they are going through. I have no kids so they are truly my life, my dad has been crying and depressed all day. He stayed up with Bentley all night. This is a nightmare, I will be paranoid from now on. Even with the vaccines it's a horrible disease. Has anyone else had a puppy with parvo? In so glad I could vent here. This is not easy.... ![]() |
