I just took a quick look at the University of Vermont's vet school page. I didn't spend a lot of time there but it looked like they were majorly into equine care. I could not find a section for small pets but that is not to say it isn't there. If your little guy should take another turn for the worse don't hesitate to ask your new vet for information about a specialist. It is so difficult to treat a serious problem like this properly without a specific diagnosis. Glad to hear he is doing better. |
For what it's worth, I have a yorkie that has a very sensitive GI tract, and prone to colitis, too. She has problems with chicken, yogurt, and regular fat beef (she could only have lean ground beef - at least 96 percent lean). Also, she could only have a low-fat, low-protein diet (25 percent protein). Oh. She can't have pet supplements either. They make her vomit. My home-cooking recipe for her is simply: 25% lean, ground beef (96% lean) 50% white rice 25% veggies (peas and canned plain pumpkin) Some fish oil (human grade supplement) Some calcium powder (human grade supplement) Probiotics (Fortiflora) This relieved Tatiana's diarrhea and colitis. Long bouts of diarrhea and colitis can weaken a dog. Perhaps this is what happened to Dozer? |
Just checking in on Dozer. I hope things are going better for you. |
My prayers for little Dozer. Sounds like a reaction to something. No flea meds for him until all this gets resolved. Vectra may not be good for him. I will pray hard that he fights this and is well real soon. |
Just checking in on little man....praying he is doing well.... |
Just read this thread. I'm so sorry you and your little guy are going through this. I hope he is doing much better. Keeping him and you in my prayers. |
