Hate to hear it....I am at work so I dont have the name of the med in front of me....overheard my vet in the office one day, talking to a lady that had a doxy with spine issues...needs surgery, and was to the point she could hardly walk....could not go up even one step....he told her about some med and they put that dog on that medication...after she had left and I was the only person in there, I asked him if he ever prescribed Dausequin...I am spelling that wrong....I first heard about it on this site, and started giving it to my Crickette...she was already about 90% on Cosequin...she soon was close to 100%...chasing birds in the yard, squirrels down the fence, the cat in the house....he told me this stuff had more pain med in it and he was hoping it would stave off this poor doxy needing surgery....I saw that lady in the office almost 6 months later...that dog did not look the same...walking like there was absolutely nothing wrong with her at all...her owner was thrilled and said if she would let her, that baby would dart up and down the stairs, but she wouldnt risk letting her do it. I will send the name tonight when I get home...my brother started using it on his dog, and it has really helped her immensely! May be something you would like to look into.....however, you have a rupture....maybe something that MUST be repaired, I dont know....but this stuff really helps with the pain and mobility.....

Thanks for the tip. Sounds like it works great. All my dogs have taken glucosamine/chrondroitin supplements for years. The surgeon did recommend "chrondroprotectant agents such as Dasequin" to stave off arthritis. I will definitely be picking some up!

Eddie had a complete rupture of the CCL, and we've already completed reconstructive surgery.

This stuff is better than Dasequin! It is called Glyco-Flex III. I didnt think anything could beat Cosequin....then I learned about Dasequin....then I learned about Glyco-Flex III. That III part is one of 3 strengths.....with the III being the strongest for major issues....check it out and see if it interests you....I could not get over whatit did for that doxy, and it really worked wonders for my brothers collie!

Hey, wee doggy recovering from surgery with his daddy chillin' in a bathrobe...what better way to spend your day? :) Jenna and I would spend every day curled up with her Snuggie and blanket if we could. ;)

Eddie continues to do well. He put quite a bit of weight on his bad leg during a leashed potty walk today. I have an iPhone video I'm uploading to youtube now and will post later tonight.

Overall, I'm pleased. The soft e-collar the vet sent him home with turned out to be worthless. He could lick right over the top of it. So I went out and bought an inflatable ring that seems to be working well. Well, according to me, not Eddie. He's been a little restless.

His mood improved significantly when I removed the fentanyl patch pain reliever after 5 days. He was acting a bit loopy -- real clingy. He still likes pampering, but he's also patient when we have to leave him in his X-pen.

Today's Day 6 since surgery. He returns to vet for a 2-week checkup a week from Monday, where if all goes well he could start water treadmill therapy. I think he'll be ready, if I can continue to nip the licking in the bud!
