Luvee and I are home for 2 nights! 1 Attachment(s) Luvee and I are home for 2 nights. The Dr. wanted her away from other dogs and germs. Her last blood test this morning revealed her to be pancytopenic, her white blood count went down even further. Her Neutrophil count has trended downward the last 3 tests. So....the Dr. sent us home with some Doxycycline to cover what she suspects could be a tick/vector-borne disease. (My parents live in Dimmit County and on our last visit Luvee could've easily picked up a tick or 2 in spite of the flea/tick prevention she has been on) So the Dr. wanted to proceed with the antibiotic. I will drive Luvee back to Aggieland this Sunday to be there bright and early for her subsequent blood test. If it does not reflect an upward trend in her white blood count and Neutrophils then the next step that afternoon is a bone marrow test. She will have to be sedated for that. Then we have a new ball game. I've attached her instruction sheet. Thank you again for your continued thoughts and prayers. We are thinking positive!!:xfingers: |

I can not believe my finger slipped off and hit the all caps....I am not going to retype all this....trust me, I am not yelling with anything but joy! |

My goodness Wow a tick infection, that is just something you never would think of. it is amazing what the right people can find. I wish everyone had vets in their corner like this, and had the gumption to make them keep looking like you did. Wonderful job !! |
Tick info Luvee and I are glad to be home, even if it's only for 48 hrs. She seems like she is doing better. Taking her medicine well. My main concern is she has not pooped since Tuesday and is still not jumping. The Dr.s were not concerned with her not pooping for some reason. All I know is it would sure bother me if I couldn't poop for over 4 days! Here is some general tick information but good to know. One of our vets referred one of our rescues one day to a cardiologist because of an irregular heartrate. The pup was taken that day and the cardiologist was certain it was either tick related or chagas. When the test results came in, sure enough it was Chagas! |
What a read! So glad that you may have found an answer!! What a great mama Luvee has!! Will keep her in my prayers! |

still no news? |
Blood test results were the same... Hi. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you all. I got off without my laptop. Well, Luvee's blood test results were not improved. Her WBC and neutrophils were the same. I had my doubts if 3 full days on doxycycline was long enough to see a marked difference in her CBC and my main vet agreed...so another test on Thursday. I did not want to put her through anesthesia and pain when she is doing so well. We will do the bone marrow if the test results on Thursday are not improved. I will take off from work. We are now back home in Dallas. I will say that Luvee is doing better. She is not 100% by any means but she is eating, drinking and peeing and pooping. She is in no pain and sleeps normally. She is back to jumping like she used to. Still not playing much and that has me baffled and concerned. Does anyone have anymore suggestions? Communication with the front office at A&M clinic is delightful and they're always so pleasant but communication to the Dr.s is not. Never returns a phone call. Thanks for all of the kind messages. |
So glad she is better. Will be watching for more up dates |
I am glad she is doing better. Good luck on Thursday. Good thoughts and blessings go out to both of you |
Im glad to hear that Luvee is doing better but will be praying that she wont need the bone marrow test, it sounds like it would be painful. and Id just like to say what an excellent mommy you are to Luvee, you have done everything you possibly can to help her feel better without question or second thought, and that is so awsome to see. :) |
I am glad that Luvee is doing better, but sad that her blood work isn't showing improvement. I pray she won't need Bone Marrow test. Luvee will certainly continue to be in my prayers. You are a great Mom. |
Happy to hear she is improving, now if the tests improve we will all do the happy dance! |
Continuing to pray for Luvee and you. Please keep us posted. |
Got some good news today. The A&M vet finally called me to let me know her additional blood screening for ticks came back negative so no tick infection!!! Next is her blood test tomorrow Friday the 1st of March. I'm taking Luvee to the emergency hospital on Hwy 114 in Grapevine. They do blood tests in house and get the results within an hour. Then I fax the results to Aggieland for the Dr's review. Lets hope and pray its ok. I will let you know ASAP. Thanks to you all for your kindness. Luvee and her mom |
Sending good thoughts and prayers your way for Luvee's blood tests today. |
