Lily Tonight she is acting a little funny had a loose stool for her. Not real loose she is panting now and then. What could I give her to settle her tummy. Not thinking I need to rush to the vet yet. She rest well for a while and then is up moving around. Wants to be held. Please any help would be appreciated |
Oh no! It sounds like she is in pain...is it possible she got into anything she shouldn't have? If you press on her tummy how does she react? Is she drinking water? Will she eat some pumpkin to settle her tummy! I would think the answers will help you decided about taking her to the vet. I never know what to do...it is so difficult when you don't know and are trying to know what to do. Good luck |
I can press all over her tummy and it is loose and she doesn't act like she is any pain. Just not herself. The panting is not very often. I have not seen her drink since she started acting this way. She is just off. Her routine today is the same as every other. No place new to pick anything up |
I hope she feels better fast. Maybe someone with more knowledge will post ...but to me it sound like a tummy ache. I know my vet has told me I could give Human over the counter meds to settle tummies. I guess you can google dosages. Of course you know to keep and eye on her...you will know if she needs to be taken to vet. Good luck and I hope you get some rest tonight |
I don't know any advice, but will keep sweet Lily in my prayers. Hopefully just an upset tummy. |
I have been looking to see what I can give her. I have read baby aspirin can be given? I will call the vet if need be. But so far she is just acting strange. She rest for a good while and then very restless. Not much sleep tonight till I know she is okay. I hate this |
Panting and loose stool? Nauseated or in pain.. Could go to the er and do blood and xrays. Seems a bit premature though. As long as she isn't getting worse and couldn't have gotten into anything toxic... No aspirin. Gums pink and wet? Capillary refill time normal? Respiration and pulse normalL Temp normal? The loose stool would not concern me. The panting is a bit harder to figure out. |
Nose is cold and wet. Gums look good She is just very very restless. She will be going to the vet first thing in the morning for sure. Just don't know if I need to take her in now. She has not panted now for awhile 1 hour This sucks |
Just took her temp 100 |
Poor girl, she must have a tummy ache or something. I would take her tomorrow if she continues... |
Yes for sure she is resting now. Her and I will be sleeping in the living room. And let everyone else have the bed. It's usually three dogs dh and I. This way she is right next to me and we don't have to worry about the others. It is so strange Just wish they could talk |
Sounds like she wil be just fine for the night if the panting stopped.:) |
Yes...if only they could talk. I'll say a prayer for Lily. I hope she feels better by morning! |
Well she has not panted any more but still very restless. We will be calling vet in the am. Just for piece of mind. We have been up about every hour. No more throwing up just uncomfortable. :(. |
Is her tummy looking bloated at all? Mine do this on occassion. It's usually gas but I am always worried that it could be a blockage, or something large trying to make it's way through their gut. I try to hold mine in an upright position... if it's gas it can pass easier this way (it will help them to burp being upright). Gas can be painful. Praying for Lily... |
just checking in to see how Lily is feeling!!!! Keep us posted |
Trying to get a hold of my vet. She has had no more of anything. But still restless and not herself. I will feel better after my vet looks at her |
Just saw this...sending prayers for sweet Lilly. I hope they figure out what is going on today and she gets some relief. Bless her heart. |
I am sorry to hear Lily isn't feeling better today. Sending prayers that the doctor can easily figure out what is ailing her and get her on the road to recovery. |
Just back from the vets. We did blood work waiting for results. Gave her fluids. Shot of antibotic Cleaned anal glands they were okay No fever Sent home with sucralfate and clavamox. Said her tummy is really rumbling :( |
I'm glad you were able to get in and see your vet today. Praying the test results bring good news and that the meds help Lily feel better. |
Hope she's feeling better soon.. |
Praying Lily will feel better soon. Will check back to see what the test results were. Hey, when you talk to the vet again, ask if it's okay to give some dosage of Pepto to these little ones. I know you were trying to think of something last night and I had seen someone mention Pepto once before on the forum. Curious. I'm sure these meds will get Lily back to herself soon :) |

If it's not just an upset tummy... OTC meds can hide symptoms and can make it take longer for the vet to diagnose and treat accordingly... (per my vet) |

Thats why I didn't give her anything last night because I called my daughter who use to work with the vet and she said don't. Just in case they have to do something. The blood work all looked good so that makes me feel better. Still not herself but will watch her close. Man these little ones like to scare the heck out of us. I can not imagine anything happening to them. I have had enough this year |
Worry, worry, worry. I know how you feel. I know my babies and am pretty attune to things going on with them, but sometimes I can't say what is hurting them. I sure wish they could answer questions too ! I have never regretted taking them to the Vet,( true it costs money to do tests but, I would rather be sure they are OK) I know how quickly small dogs can get worse. I will keep Lily in my thoughts and prayers. Hope she feels better soon. |
Oh poor baby. Hope she gets to feeling better soon. Glad you took her in. I deal with tummy problems with Rosie so I know how it is. Hugs to Lily. |
Thanks and money is tight. And dh said do you really think she needs to go. I said I know she is not feeling well and not willing to take the chance. He is a vets kid ( we lost his father many years ago) So he sometimes thinks I over react. But I know my pups. And he agreed she was not right. So hopefully by morning she will feel much better. But I am still not thinking she feels well. We had some boiled chicken and she has a good appetite. I am syringing water now and then just to make sure she is getting enough. |
Lily seems to be feeling a little better today. We had a couple loose stools last night And that seemed to help a lot she slept from 12 till 8. Still just giving boiled chicken and water. Man what a couple of days. Not sure what made her stomach so upset |
