prayers for a successful surgery and (((huggzz))) for mommy....will check tomorrow for updates |
Thinking of lollipop and you tomorrow. Sending prayers for a great outcome. |
Hello everyone !! I took this morning lollipop to the surgery as we have planned wirh the vet , And the doctor check her again, and he saw her and told me that she is much better now , she can walk and use both leg Almost normal and he thinks is no gonna be necessary to do the surgery now , is better to wait for a month and do another X-ray to see how her leg is! I don't know what to think , I'm happy for one side because I was afraid of the surgery , but her recovery is going very fast , I don't know what to think!! the vet ask me if I agree to wait for surgery, if lollipop was his dog he waits so, I told him lets wait then ! What do you think? |
You must be so confused right now as what to do, did they put a cast or splint on the leg? |
No they didn't put anything because the injury is close to the hip so they can't put anything |
I suppose all you can do is listen to your vets advice as long as she is not in pain and she is moving around better. |
Yes, I guess that's what I have to do! Thank you |
I would be getting a second opinion FROM A SPECIALIST. It makes me real nervous when a vet tells me a leg is broken and is bad enough to require an open reduction (surgery)....the the leg turns around and starts healing and , "well....maybe surgery is not necessary....just yet...lets wait and see...". I would be questioning his initial diagnosis, then I would be questioning his second diagnosis/opinion, especially knowing that to "wait for a month and see how the leg is"....WHAT are you waiting for????? For the leg to heal crooked and then REQUIRE RE-FRACTURE so it can be set properly???? PLRASE!!!! I would want a second opinion from someone who specializes in broken bones, an orethopedic specialist. |
The doctor I took her first gave me 2 options one was to wait and see how she reacts and in future make a surgery or make a surgery more complicate, because what she has is close to the hip, so I decided to take her to another vet, and I end up with a specialist an orthopedist , and he explained everything to me and what they were suppose to do today was to implant a screw on her bone but she recover very fast and he said if I do this surgery she wil be the same as now, and i will only make her be in pain for a few days , clearly she is not now, I mean I think is not going to be necessary |

Hello I've replied before but I don't know why is not here , ok then I tell you all again , the night she broke her leg I took her to the vet and he told us that we have to do surgery ASAP , then I took her the next morning to another vet and we end up with a specialist (orthopedist) who examined her and explain me what were my options , he told us that her injury was very close to the hip, so he couldn't put any case or anything on her leg and the first option was the surgery where he would implant a strew on so she can move propally, the other option was to wait bcus she was very small and she can develop more mussels and the movement she was suppose to do with the bones she would doit with the help of mussel but that was my decition, first option was way more spensive than the other but she will be "normal" again , the second option she will recover but it won't be possible for her to do long walks , because her bones and mussels are very young that could be a good option. We decided to do the surgery so she could be ok because she wasn't walking but as she start to wk again , he recommend us to wait, because the surgery will only cause pain to her |
Did your vet order confinement while it heals? I would definitely seek an opinion from a specialist also. |

I guess my next question is: Does she seem to be in pain while she's walking now? Is she shaking or shivering? I understand the surgery might cause some pain, but is she in pain without the surgery? |
Im giving her every night for a week medicine for the pain, she's clearly not in pain; she wanna play all the time and is not showing any shivering or shake , ican see she's fine , that was why I was so confused |
I'm so glad she's not in pain. I'll keep praying for her recovery. Hang in there :) |
Thankyou !! |
