Momo has swollen saliva glands, it's on both sides of his jaw line towards the back...I thought it was swollen nymph nodes & freaked out. I took him to 2 different vets & they both said it was normal. As long as he's eating, drinking, breathing fine, he's ok. It bothers me tho & I feel like it's grown bigger.=/ I'm going to ask my vet to aspirate it when he's under for his dental in a couple of months.
The vets checked all his lymph nodes & found them all to be normal.
I hope it's nothing serious.

OK, we could not get him in today, but he will be seen at 5:45pm on Tuesday. I'll post an update ASAP.

OK, so it is an abscessed tooth. He's concerned about the infection possibly causing a jaw fracture. They gave me antibiotics and are calling me tomorrow to discuss whether they're going to refer us to a specialist. He said they might fracture it removing it, which would mean a specialist would have to put a plate in. At this point, I think we'll just cut out the middle man and go straight to the specialist. I'm not needlessly putting Mojo under more than once.

My poor baby!

Oh no. I am so sorry to read this. I agree going to specialist to start with. Prayers going out for Mojo.

My Gina had something like this and it was nothing the vet said. One day I found dried blood on her chin and realized that she had scratched it and it was gone. No harm done.

I am so sorry to hear about this. Definitely taking him to a specialist is the best. Good thoughts and blessings go out to you both

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that! My first Yorkie, Scotty, had an abscessed tooth that I knew nothing about until I saw blood on his mouth. The vet put him on antiobiotics and pain medicine and removed it some time later. That's when I learned Yorkies have a tendency to bad dental problems and learned to brush his teeth, have his dental cleanings as the vet recommends.

I hope little Mojo is being made as comfortable as possible and his painful tooth an the lump are soon gone. Do you brush his little teeth and have them cleaned by the vet? Let us know what the specialist tells you.

Poor Mojo! I am so glad you brought him to the vet to check out the mysterious lump, and that you taking him to the specialist. Mojo will be in my prayers for a safe extraction and speedy recovery.

I do brush his teeth, but apparently I'm not getting the back ones well enough! It's so hard to get back there in his tiny little mouth! I felt so bad when I came home from the vet that I immediately ordered those compact toothbrush heads for my Sonicare. They're arriving tomorrow- can't wait to see what the pups think of the electric toothbrush!

We're having a dental done next week Thursday and will have the bad tooth extracted at the same time. I'll post an update that night. Thanks so much for all the support!

I wish my boys would let me use the Sonicare on them. I'm going to try the tiny brush heads too and see if that makes a difference. You may want to go easy with the Sonicare until after Mojo's tooth is extracted.

We'll be thinking of him next week and watching for your update.

Just a quick update- Mojo's surgery went beautifully today. They did have to pull 4 teeth & did a very thorough cleaning. They also removed a small growth from his left shoulder. He has 2 staples still in from where that was removed. The docs said he did great! We return in 2 weeks to get the staples out.
