Checking in on Taycie to see how she is doing this evening? I hope she is starting to feel better. Prayers still continue for her recovery. |
Taycie update... Taycie is recovering well! I think the third day was the worst. I called the vet and she could actually have a higher dosage of the Tramadol every 6 hours. So I adjusted and she did well! On Friday morning at 5:15am I woke up to her gagging and throwing up.. She THREW UP her feeding tube! Scared me too death! I grabbed her and my shoes and we headed to the E.R. Vet. They took the rest of the tube out and bandage her up. I also had them look at her stitches and the doctor on staff said they looked like they were healing very nicely. She said she does have quite a bit of swelling so try a cold compress. So I bought one of the gel packs for kids and have been alternating every couple of hours and her swelling has completely disappeared. She has been eating wonderfully! Today she even carried her chuck-it around! It was so adorable! I did get a call today on the results of her labs. She DOES have MVD. A very mild case but something we caught very soon. The specialist would like to keep her on Neomycin, for life. He said she just doesn't have alot of reserve and he wants to avoid another episode of being hospitalized. He did say at our recheck appt. before our surgery how good she was looking. His comment was, " This sure is not the dog that wanted to curl up in the back of her cage and wanted to die". Just to put that into perspective just how incredibly sick she was.... SO... Neomycin it is. I am not sure if he wants her on Lactalouse for life but she is for the time being. I also talked to him about Dr. Remillard and he said he did not know her personally her but he remembered hearing about her and he knew of her credentials. He said he thought it would be an excellent idea and said he would fax over any information right away. So I resent my information to Dr. Remillard and I am hoping to get that ball rolling ASAP. And... the crazy part.. Her small intestine Biopsy came back NORMAL. I was SHOCKED when he said this! I thought for sure her gut was going to be the scary part. So.. now we know.. next step getting her with a nutritionist! Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers! I truly think it helped our diagnosis. |
I'm sorry to ask this, what is MVD? something to do with the heart? Prayers continue for Taycie and ((HUGGZZ)) for mommie |

((hugs)) I am just so glad you have answers and she is being taken care of. Nothing is worse than seeing your baby in pain! I am praying she continues to get better and stronger .... she's a strong girl, so I have no doubt! |
I'm so glad that your little girl is going to be fine! MVD is very manageable, from what I understand, and she will have a normal life with diet and meds. She is such a beautiful little princess and it breaks my heart that she (and you) had to go through all this sickness:( So glad she is now diagnosed and treatment has begun, and she\'s on the mend. You\'re a wonderful Momma to her:love: |
