When antibiotics aren't finished or given on time, any bacteria can become resistant to them. So always finish any prescribed medicines as directed, this goes for pets and people. If a new problem or symptom developes while she's on medication, I would call the vet and tell him/her about it. A change in meds may be needed depending on the problem.
Hoping she gets a good report from the vet tomorrow. Younger and older pets have weaker immune systems, 'cold' symptoms should never be ignored.
My dog's 'cold' developed into pneumonia in 3 days! On the 4th day, his fever shot up to 105+, we went to the closest vet I could find, he was nebulized with two different antibiotics (put in a special cage and the meds were made into an inhalant form where he breathed them directly into his lungs) and sent home on a third AB. It was a very nasty bug and he had to take oral antibiotics 2X daily for 30 days and have an xray to make sure it was all cleared up. On really bad days, I had to steam up the bathroom and sit in there with him to try to break up the gunk in his lungs. He did recover... he'll be 16 years old in December!
Good luck to your baby tomorrow. Let us know how she is... |
