I am curious....does anyone have any experience with this stuff? I have read so much on google, my head is spinning. It is all so very frustrating...I hate seeing this poor boy go through this. I have been told that these hernias are often difficult, but then I see sites that say there is an 80% success rate. I just hate this. :( |
:hands: Praying for sweet little Sammy. |
Poor baby:( I wonder if they could use some techniques that they use for humans with hernia/bladder issues. My hubby had a hernia operation 20 years ago where they used a mesh to reinforce the area. He's never had a problem with it again, and he lifts heavy things all day long! With humans, they use a "bladder sling". Don't know much about this, as they didn't do this for me when I had my full hysterectomy. They usually do this because the organs they remove leave a gap that the bladder slips down into and that causes urinary incontinence (yay me, pee if I sneeze, laugh, cough, or run:rolleyes:!) I wonder if the technology exists to perform a bladder sling on a doggy? Prayers for your Sammy:love: |

As for the sling, that is interesting...I have a call into my vet and I will ask her if she has heard of them doing it for dogs. I have a feeling that if it were done, A&M would be doing it. Actually, what they are doing is very similar...but they are not using something (such as a ligament or muscle) as a sling to attach the bladder...they are attaching it directly. |

Good thoughts and prayers for Sammy |
Don't know if this is the case with Sammy... but possible hereditary connective tissue disorder similar to Ehlers-Danlos syndrome in humans... can affect skin and/or internal organs (skin tends toward hyperelasticity... my family member has had multiple hernias, mesh does not work, stitches don't hold for long, (won't stay in place due to the hyperelasticity issue internally). She has Ehlers-Danlos with Marfans... I confuse symptoms of the two but I believe the connective tissue part is of EDS. Marfans is the doublejointed (lay term), hyperextension of joints. |
Poor Sammy :( Keeping him in my thoughts |
I will keep Sammy in my thoughts... So sad that he has to go through all of this :( At least he has you to take care of him and get him the help he needs. |
Well, they did not do the surgery today. :( Sammy is scheduled as the first case tomorrow. They said he is doing fine. They pushed the bladder back out of the hernia and he is piddling small amounts...so he is ok. I just had hoped it would get done and he could get out of there tomorrow. |
So sorry to hear Sammy had a relapse. Sending prayers his way for a safe and successful surgery. Poor fella, he needs a break. |
Poor Sammy. :(. Thank goodness you are there for him Linda. |
Sending prayers for little Sammy. I\'m sorry he has to wait until tomorrow and that he has to go through this again. |
