My Gracie in Surgery Gracie did not eat well yesterday. In the evening she was fussy. Her belly seemed tender and she wanted on my lap. I called the Vet this morning to see if they could check her out. She has a blockage per ultra sound. She is in surgery. Please prayers, you all know Gracie is my rescue baby, I love her so much. Will up date when I can. Thanks |
Oh no! Praying for a safe and successful surgery for Gracie, and a quick recovery! Do you know what caused the blockage? |

Excellent catch, mom!! You were right on top of that issue! Gracie will be fine, I am sure! Sending up prayers for her uneventful surgery and a wonderful, quick recovery for her....and peace and calm for you!....I am sure you are so worried and upset. You were right on top of this, and you know that is a large part of positive outcomes......will be checking back frequently for update. |
Did she eat something??? We thought we would have to have my terrier/x Gizmo operated on a couple of months ago when she ate peepee pads. PLEASE let us know when you hear something!! I will be praying for her and you. I can only imagine how worried you are. Praying for her recovery, Louise  |
oh my gosh....I hope everything is ok...I watch everything my little Emy is doing. I watch everything that goes into her mouth, even when we're outside, I'm constantly putting my fingers into her mouth and pulling out grass, or a piece of bark or whatever. In the house I watch her like a hawk, she is only allowed in the kitchen, and I'm constantly sweeping the floor to make sure nothing has fallen on it that I didn't see. That is my biggest fear, an obstruction, cause Emy seems to want to pickup everything into her mouth at this stage of her life (19 weeks)...I hope your baby is ok. Please let us know what is was or what they found out. |
I am also praying for the best outcome for little Gracie! I am missing a button off of my bedspread, but Kipper has been eating and acting normal, so I am hoping it just dropped off somewhere that I have not yet discovered. It makes me more motivated to look harder and find it before he does, as he is also 19 weeks old and loves to chew on everything! |
UP DATE on Gracie: First Thank all of you for prayers and kind thoughts. Gracie is home. She had a blockage caused by what the vet thinks, is an owl pellet. (I guess owls spit up bits of bones and fur they can't digest.) Anyway it got hung up in a fold of her digestive tract. It is out now (about the size mans thumb) We expect a full recovery, there was no lost of bowel. Thank God ! |
Prayers have been answered! How amazing that it was an owl pellet. Who would have guessed!!!!? Thank you for the update and I will continue to pray for her complete recovery. |
yay so happy. fast recovery wishes for gracie! |
I can imagine how worried you must be, I will be praying for her! Stay strong! I'm sure she is a tough little girl so she will pull through this!:aimeeyork:thumbup: |
Oh my!! I am so glad little Gracie is ok. I have never heard of owl pellets but will be on the look out because have seen a couple land in trees around the yard. We always rush the babies back in to keep them safe when we see on but never thought to look for things like that. |

THIS is an excellent example when people suspect there may be something not right and their pup is having signs and symptoms like your baby was having, it is vital this is given immediate attention. If someone had just sat on this until Monday, or even another day, the blood supply could have easily been cut of to that part of the bowl and then you are dealing with "dead gut", which has a frightful mortality rate. With YOUR experience, you knew immediately there was a potential problem....I sincerely do hope others read your experience today and learn how important it is to not "sit on" some symptoms... delay does not mean it will fix itself....it could mean alot more $$ in vet bills, a lot more serious surgery, and possibly the death of your baby. I would MUCH rather have my vet smile and say, "Judy, you are overthinking this situation"....than "Judy, why in the world didnt you bring her in last night, we may have been able to help her". |
And you have probably aged 10 years in one day! Thank God she will be ok. Louise :) |
Thank goodness Gracie is ok! :) |
I am so happy that your Gracie will now be okay because you acted swiftly and lovingly. Gracie is in such wonderful hands, and I pray that her recovery is very fast and as pain-free as possible. |
Thank goodness you reacted so fast!! I am so glad that Gracie is going to be ok. Prayers for a speedy recovery:) |
