| Hard swollen colon/stumach ! Fido's colon is really hard and a little bit swollen I think, is it suppose to be like that? He has been getting the last 1-2 weeks daily some green bones that look like Greenies but are even more like plastic, I got some for free at a dog show I thought they were okay Does anyone know of something I can give him, maybe some oil or anything that could help him to get rid of this from his intestines? I think it's blocked ! He has been eating well though, and drinks still but less than usual (I've been putting oil and alot of water in his kibble, like I always do, so he gets some water). I'll take him to the vet after school tomorrow, he doesn't look like he's sick, he's just the usual lazy dog, and runs around when I go outside.

| Is he pooping normally? If not, he should see the vet sooner. A blockage is something that you don't want to delay treatment on, it can cause big time problems Thinking of your baby

| Signs of a blockage are vomiting and changes in pooping routine.

| He has been pooping normally and is eating well also, I gave him alot of flaxseed oil, normally he gets half a spoon with his kibble I gave him much more now, I'm gonna check if it helps with this. Should I only be afraid if he can't poop or is vomiting? I have NO money now left so if I can I will skip the vet check, but I'll get some loaned if I have to, so I really apprecciate what to do to help his stumach/colon. How is it suppose to be normally with an overwheight dog when I pet him where the colon is?? Should it be really soft or what, if he has some tension on it then its pretty hard but when he lies down its better... But I don't know how it should be?? Maybe I'm panicking for no reason..

Flax Seeds and Oil Side-Effects | eHow.com Digestive System Side-Effects The amount of flaxseed oil or ground seeds recommended for an individual to experience health benefits is one tablespoon of flax oil or two tablespoons of ground flax seeds. Consuming significantly more than this amount is linked to unpleasant digestive system side-effects, including flatulence; loose, frequent stools; diarrhea; constipation; abdominal pain; heartburn; or nausea. If he's not vomiting or having diarrhea (which are signs of a blockage) & not showing obvious discomfort (like pacing, panting, drooling, or being lethargic) I wouldn't be too worried. How about a nice walk outside for 20-30 mins? It really helps w/getting their digestive system going. I would also stop those horrendous greenie looking treats. Don't know why they even make them!

| Thanks for the info ! He's doing OK, I think his stumach is a little better, I took a half an hour walk last night, he pooped and it was all greenish , so he's finally getting this through What oil should I give him that is OK? I thought flaxseed oil was good for them because they sell it at the petstore I shop at, I'll give less now or some other oil instead. What oil is the best?

That's a great relief that he's pooping it out. I don't buy any kind of treats for them anymore. Just home made & slightly blanched veggies. Yup, walking is good for both the dogs & us!

| Canned pumpkin may help move everything out. We use Coconut oil here. Just make sure he keeps pooping till all the green stuff is out!
