Rescuemomma I just want to say that you do NOT need to explain yourself or defend your actions. You did what you had to do. I am a vet tech too, i understand. I know you posted this thread because you are stressed out and looking for help (not donations) for Moose. This thread took a turn for the worse right after your opening post. Honestly at this point I'd ask for this thread to be closed and walk away. |

I think those with vet tech training all understand why I'm making the choices I am. I've worked in a couple ERs and multiple regular clinics, I know what happens in hospital and have alot of training that the average pet owner couldn't fully understand. And don't need to defend myself. Now I should have taken a deep breath and calmed down before posting, and that's my bad - and would love to see this closed now. |

I completely agree with kalina82. You should not feel attacked. You are looking for support not to be critiqued. Sometime people get so focused on one area they forget that people make mistakes they later regret. They can't see the forest for the trees. They lose the bigger picture. No person is perfect. I could quote bible verses but won't. People that attack others will need to one day explain themselves. |
Rescuemomma, to have the thread closed, all you have to do is click on the exclamation point in the triangle....at the bottom left corner of every post and ask for the thread to be closed. You can do that with any thread that you have started yourself. :) |

Sometimes it's just better to close it. I'm not a tech, but a pre-vet. My vet knows what I can handle and I can talk to her whenever I need to. So when the call in made that the dog can stay home with me, it stays home with me. And I agree with you about the ER. The vet is going to be sleeping (if there is nothing critical there) unless there is a problem reported by a tech. Do what you think is best for your pups. |

I just wanted to offer prayer that little Moose is feeling better and all recovered soon. |
My larger concern here is the frequency of illness and/or emergencies and large number of animals and no money for vet care. I did not ask the OP to defend herself .. I merely suggested she take a long look at the numbers of animals she is attempting to keep without money for vetting. We could debate the topic of treating pups at home vs a hospital setting all day long and never agree. I do what I believe is prudent and sensible...I prefer my extremely ill pups be in a hospital setting where resuscitative measures can be taken if they should crash. I am a skilled medical professional and would never ever do what has been posted...but I know those of you who think it is appropriate will not agree. |
Hoping that Moose is doing better this morning... |
Praying for all the sick babies. |
Hoping Moose is better this morning! |
Thanks everyone! Lady Jane - for the most part ALL my dogs are seniors and/or very special needs. That\'s why I took them in. And if you think they\'d be better euthanized then me exhausting my funds when several emergencies happened together - that\'s on you, not me - I never said I didn\'t have funds for vetting, just I hadn\'t planned extra for dogs that don\'t belong to me - but as always, Moose will never get any less then the best care I can get him! Moose is doing great this morning - still a bit sore and stiff, but he was playing with his stuffy and playing before I took him to the vet to be watched for the day while I\'m busy. I\'m sure he\'ll be just fine - his sore already look much better! He\'ll be sore for a bit, but he\'ll bounce back with no problems! |
