Georgie weighs a whopping 4lbs he weighed 3.2 prior to surgery. Please keep us posted on Livvie we are all worried about you both |
Hello everyone, i am currently reading through the posts, i haven't read all of them yet but am amazed and so grateful for the advice and support, and to hear other have gone thru this. I apologize if i don't get back right away, my computer is broken so i am currently borrowing my moms. i have my phone but that too is messed up. i just picked up livie not too long ago. I feel horrible, she is all bandaged up from the back to her head. She can not move. I have to feed her and give her water with a syringe. She seems to have no strength in her right leg and i feel bad because she is uncomfortable and seems to want to go potty but cant. |

Thank you for the update. I am glad that you are reading through all of our posts. I promise there is hope and it can cost less than 10k and have a higher success rate than 60%. My sweet Georgie is living proof of it. Prayers for you and Livie from Georgie and I. |
I will try to post a pic of her and/or video. i am so stressed and depressed over this. I just keep crying. I just hate seeing her in pain and when she cries I panic. I don't know what to do or which way she can be held, or turn. They said the most important thing is that she cannot move her neck up or down. She is not walking, and i saw her try real quick and she fell over onto her back and starting screaming. She needs 24/hr care right now, it is like having a new born baby. My mom works and i work. I don't know what to do. i can keep her separated from the other dogs and confined and leave for work but i am deathly afraid that she will try to move to make a bowel movement or because of comfort and she will hurt herself in doing so, and scream in pain like just now. The cast looks really uncomfortable, it is heavy and huge. i will post a pic if i can asap. With all this being $3000 so far that me and my mom has paid, i don't think i can afford surgery. i'm so upset. And the other dogs just want to see and be near her and i don't want to stress her out even more. |
I understand completely I promise I do. Is there anyway you or your Mom can apply for care credit? They have a 6 month no interest credit card that can help. I know it's not easy the emotional or financial end, but I just want to reassure you if there is a way to get the surgery she can get better. Prayers for you both |
2 Attachment(s) Here are 2 pics i took just now. Look how big this cast is. i can't imagine how uncomfortable she is, i would rather be in this pain than her. The vet said she peed overnight, but i have not seen her pee or poop since she's been home. i am worried about that. She usually sleeps in bed with me but now she has to be confined in an area on the floor, on wee wee pads cause she might go on herself. :( I am worried about the pooping, since dogs need to get comfortable to poop and crouch down, will it just come out on it's own? i don't think i'll be sleeping tonight. |

I also forgot to ask about what Nancy1999 said have you contacted her breeder? Maybe the breeder can help as well. |
Yes I told her breeder. She said she is sorry, i don't know which way she can help. I will tell her not to breed her parents again but i don't think there's any way she would refund any money. |

There was a contract, I would have to look for it. I don't want to sue her :( From what the vet said when i asked him what causes this he said a combination of genetics, and trauma, rough playing, jumping off the couch/bed which she did a lot. She is very active normally. And then the fight with London triggered it i think, it's such a sad time. |
This guy on facebook that i don't even know just wrote on her picture, that he wants to burn her, for me to send her to him so he can kill her. That upset me so much. I need to stop accepting friend requests from people i don't know :/ |

Personally, I would not worry myself about what to do about the breeder right now. You have enough on your plate taking care of Livie. You will always have the option later on if you change your mind. |

You have crazy people out there on Facebook that will write horrible things....you dont even need to be going there at this time. You have enough reading material right here on this forum, where you are surrounded by people that genuinely care about you and your baby! Stay off Facebook with this! You are going to get your feelings hurt!!! |

Praying for Livie... |
i'm sending lots of prayers for livie, and for you. seeing her in that cast just breaks my heart! poor little baby. i know this must be so hard on you as well. i hope and pray that you can find some way to get her the surgery. as far as the care credit... you can apply online or over the phone. they most often tell you right away if you're approved or not. i personally used this for myself several years back when i needed a lot of dental work (about $7,000) and it was a life saver, as i got everything i needed done right away and eventually paid it off. they charge no interest for the first year as long as you're on time with your payments. if you pay it off completely within a year there will be no interest charged at all. after finding out most veterinarians (even specialists and er clinics) accept care credit too, i keep the card for my 2 girls. here's a link to their site. CareCredit Healthcare Finance - Payment Plans and Financing for Cosmetic Surgery, Dental, Vision, Hearing, Veterinary & Other Medical Procedures i'm so glad to see that others here that have been in your position have offered so much advice and support! that's the most wonderful thing about yorkie talk! you and sweet livie will be in my thoughts and i will be checking in for updates and hoping and praying.... sending hugs |
I got your PM please call me if you need me. Don't worry about the breeder right now just focus on Livie. Also, please ignore what mean hateful people say this condition is hard enough to deal without adding morons to the mix. Again, call me if you need me. I am praying for you and Livie. Please keep us posted. |

So glad to see you are back on with us. I just spoke to the Neuro Dept at Cornell Univ. in NY. They quoted a cost of $7500 which includes the imagining needed, etc. You are in an expensive state. NCSU quoted us $5K for Zhoie, however, she didn't need another MRI, nor did she have to stay in ICU and there was no complications involved so our total cost ended up being right under $3700. At NCSU you pay $3K up front to move forward with the surgery. I called NCSU and they will take CareCredit for payment and you can apply right on line and get a quick reply. If you opt to go to NCSU, go in there the ER, that way you don't have to have a referral and wait around for an appointment. Oh, Zhoie was stablized in the ER overnight and then referred onto Neuro the following morning. I figured there would be a separate bill for the ER, but no, that was the total cost including the ER stay and care. Please consider going directly to NC, is that a possiblity for you:confused: If the distance is to far, check on the facility Morgan used for her Georgie which is in MD. Also you could call Penn State vet school in Beaver Falls, PA and get a quote. I have read other stories of successful surgery in Ohio. There are many options to out there, just be diligent and find the one option that will work for you and your girl. I believe the surgery is less costly if you can get it down before other neuro symptoms occur, such as paralysis. Please know, I'm not trying to scare you. This is a life threating situation and this is the progression of the injury, but if you get the surgery done before hand it's easier on your girl and the overall cost. Using a vet school is going to less costly than a neuro private practice. Sending prayers for your and your baby. |

Care Credit is a great option for something like this. I have an $8k CC card and have it in case something happens to the pups. Look into it....They also have no interest for a period of time, and if you pay it off before then... It's great. I am really sorry you are going through this with Livie :( She looks so uncomfortable. |
