My teacup, 2 lb. Yorkie has Parvovirus Sophie is almost one year old. She is currently in a good Vet. Hospital here in Phoenix, thank goodness. The inoculations given by the breeder unfortunately have shown to be ineffective. My little 2 lb precious baby has been in critical condition due to Parvo. She is stable now after spending the last five days in the hospital throwing up and diarrhea. The doctors are busy working miracles trying to save her life. Please pray my baby survives. She is my life. I am a new member, wish I found this site when I first adopted Sophie. This is her second trip to the hospital. The first time was just 3 weeks after her adoption. This was an out-patient visit when she had a bacterial infection (from picking up old cat poop on the side of our fenced in yard.) She quickly got over this infection. She stays inside and my home is very clean and our yard is so nice but she snooped around until she found this old cat poop next to the fence, hid by the grass from our eyes. Now I'm praying I'll be bringing her home within a few days if she continues to improve. The doctors said she had the worse case of parvovirus they have ever seen in a dog plus with her being so tiny, she is a miracle baby. Sophie is a fighter. If the breeder did vaccinate her, the serum was not effective. When she gets well, we'll make sure she receives all her innoculations especially . She is such a tiny baby and so delicate. But she is fiesty and bosses the big dogs and she is so independant. When she does what I tell her to do, she pauses and later does it on her own time as if it's her suggestion, lol. She is my first Yorkie and I'm hooked. Please pray for my spunky little girl who is busy fighting for her life. Thanks to all for suggestions, advice and comments. TRose :animal-pa |
Welcome to YT :) Wishing little Sophie a full recovery. |
Prayers coming your way for you and your baby Sophie, she sure is a tiny one, i hope she is home soon and has a full recovery from this. Please read up on here about vacinating the tiny ones, please split up the shots and always give the rabies alone. I hope your vet has given you info about disinfecting your home as well, before you bring your little one home, there is lots of info on here about this so please read up on it. Good luck. |
Thanks Thanks for the info. I'm reading this now. I've already bleached everything, toys, floors, beds, linens, everything. I so hope she doesn't come down with a bacterial infection while she's trying to get over this awful virus. She's our little miracle fighter. The entire hospital staff is loving:love: her. She truly is receiving the best of care. Thanks again for your helpful information. |

Thanks Yes, as soon as she was diagnosed my brother-in-law spread a bleach solution over our front and back yards. Also we'll not allow any dog come into our home and yard that do not have their updated vaccinations for parvo. Also our vet is going to give Sophie her distemper vaccination a week after she's fully recovered from parvo. I've been told it takes 7 years for the virus to clear from the soil. Thanks again for your advice. |
Sending prayers for your little one for a full recovery. |
Wishing Sophie a swift and full recovery. Poor baby... :( Welcome to YT |
Poor little girl! I pray that your baby gets better really soon. Sophia sounds like such a precious little fighter. |
Oh no! I hope Sophie is feeling better soon. Sounds like she's in good hands |
Apple Cider Vinegar. It does a lot killing parvo safely and naturally is only one benefit of it. http://www.organic-pet-digest.com/be...r-vinegar.html |
Welcome to YT. I'm sorry it's under such sad circumstances. Sending prayers that your tiny one will be home again very soon. |
I am so sorry about your baby girl. There is a solution called Virkon...it is used specifically to kill the parvo virus. Bleach does not kill the parvo virus, according to the experts I contacted when someone brought parvo into my home and it almost killed 2 litters of my babies. Please look this solution up, read about and research it. It is safe around your baby and it effectively kills the parvo virus, plus many other diseases. |
So sorry that your baby is sick |
Poor little thing. Sending lots of prayers for your little one. Hugs to you for getting her the care she needs. Praying for her to be your Easter miracle.:) |
