Kacee needs your prayers and any help This morning Kacee jumped off a couch and hurt her leg. We went to the dr and got x-rays done. They said she sprained her leg. She was given pain pills and I gave her one at noon today, shortly after we got home. She has slept all afternoon, except for one time I got her up to take her to potty. She can barely walk and I feel so sorry for her. She hobbles. I don't let her walk, except when she is trying to potty. I would like to know what you think I should do to make her healing time as short as possible. Keep her in your prayers. She looks so pitiful.:( |
I'm not sure what you should do :(. But hugs and prayers for you and Kacee. |
Karen, now my heart skipped a few beats seeing your thread title! Poor Kacee. :( I will pray for a speedy recovery. I would imagine that restricting activity severely would help speed recovery, and that is going to be very hard on both of you. I'm glad she didn't break anything. Poor baby. |
Thank you! She just woke up. I forgot to say that it was her rear left leg. |
oh no poor lil one :( hope she gets better quick. |

I wasn't in that room when it happened. I'm just assuming she jumped and didn't fall. She screamed and I came running, but she wasn't there by the couch. She was down a hallway and just sitting there when I found her. |
Karen, I'm so sorry to hear about Kacee. Does she have on a cast? Poor baby. I will keep you and Kacee in my prayers. |
Oh Karen, I am so, so sorry that that happened to Kacee. Poor little thing. It sounds like you are doing everything you can. Just want to add that we had something similiar happen to Piccolo on vacation one time and thankfully in a couple of days she was pretty much back to normal. |
Oh no! Keeping Kaycee in my prayers.... I'd get one of these: Dog Sling Carriers for Dogs with Weak Hind Legs, Post-Op Surgery, Getting Old or you can use a long bath towel.... this will help keep the weight off her leg and save your back.... |

okay in human medicine with a sprain the acronym is RICE. Rest Ice Compress and Elevate. I would as Kristin says limit severly her activities; crate rest, and only leave crate to pee/poo. I you have ice packs that you can place around knee that would be the ice part. Or if not, pick up your darling - have an ice cube wrapped in a facecloth and as you pet her hold that ice over the knee. The compression can be a vet bandage. The elevation is more hard to do with a doggie. but you could hold up the leg while you are doing the icing. My best wishes for a speedy recovery |
I am so sorry that Kacee hurt her leg. Prayers going out for her. |
Poor girl. I hope she is feeling better this evening. |
I hope your precious little girl heals quickly from her injury and that she feels better very soon. |
Thank you all. I appreciate any ideas. She has always been very active and not the type of puppy that I would have purchased a stroller for. Now I wish we had one. She loves to be outside, so I have taken her out and carried her around a few times and then I sit her down to potty. She's not walking any better this evening. She will hobble and then carry it.:( |
Oh poor little Kacee:( I just got logged in and just now seeing this. Sending lots of hugs and kisses and healing prayers for that sweet baby. |

Poor little Kaycee! It is so hard to keep them from being so mobile. It will be hard but maybe it will heal on her own if she limits her movement. Give the sweet baby hugs. |
She must have wrenched that leg muscle pretty badly and have tissue tearing, bleeding, swelling in it. Hope you don't have to crate-confine her to make her mostly rest it - they hate enfored rest so much. You feel so helpless when you see them limping around and hurting. I pray that she's doing much better in a few days. |
Poor baby, I will be Praying for her to have a speedy recovery. You can ask your vet about soaking it in Epsom Salts. My vet had me do the Epsom Salts with a leg injury & it really helped lots. |
Poor Kacee- Peanut and I are sending hugs, warm thoughts and prayers- Hope she gets better soon!! Xoxo |

i hope shes feeling better my assumption is it will take sometime...maybe get a stroller for her now while she is having this issue or borrow one so you can still let her get fresh air without having to hold her and she will be comfortable. just a thought. hope she heals soon. |
