| Really need help!!! Hello everyone I have a 1 year & 2 month old yorkie and her name is zoe and is very ill or at least thats what i see, she recently ate some pebbles from outside in which I rushed her to the vet for care and after 6 x-rays they diagnosed it gave her id food so she can pass them as she did but as of 2 nights ago she started collapsing as she walked which led me to take her to an emergency clinic and they diagnosed nothing wrong with her and took her again to my vet which did a check up again and found nothing wrong with her, she is showing alot of depression and doesnt wanna eat no dry food but ive been giving her chicken and she has been eating that, I dont know if im making sense just that im desperate as this has been going on for 1 week already and so many vet visits and they cant find nothing wrong with her, could it be becuase of the new addition we added to our family which is gizmo our 2 month old yorkie? could it just be jealousy or what? please any info would be greatly appreciated!! |

| Jealousy will not make your baby collapse. Has the vet checked her liver bile acids ? was she recently vaccinated ? did the x-ray to make sure she passed all the stones ? What other if any symptoms does she have ? nausea, stools normal, head twitching , dizziness ? Last edited by lillymae; 02-28-2012 at 06:53 PM. |

If your little one is just refusing to eat and going off to hide and/or just acting depressed then perhaps it is because of the new puppy. How long have you had puppy? Did she act like this the entire time you had the puppy? I am hoping you researched on how to introduce a new puppy to your home when you already have a pup. If not you need to do research and look at some threads here or start a new thread in General asking for help. Be sure to explain how you have handled the situation thus far. Its important that you make sure your older pup knows she is still number 1, and that you treat her as such. Good Luck If you

| Try to take a video of it and show your vet exactly what you're seeing...

| thanks to everyones reply's and yes our vet has taken an x-ray each time we have gone in and its been everyday for the past week and he has said all the stones did pass, the night she collapsed we took her to the emergency clinic and they put an i.v on her and had to stay overnight and the next morning she was doing much better and the doc their told me nothing was wrong all the blood work came back positive and x-rays showed no more stones which is the same thing my doc has told us the only thing he is recommending me to do now is take her in for an ultrasound to see if her liver isnt shot as this is common in yorkies he said, im taking her in tomorrow morning with my vet for another check up as she still is hesitant to eat anything, ive always given her royal canine and she just sniffs it and walks away, we tryed simply nourish and showed intrest in that as well and then blah no more, when we got our new pup she showed alot f interest in his puppy food and our vet told us to give her that which we did, she did eat it for the 2 days after the pebble scare and no more interest, so finally we tryed boiled chicken which she loved and again after 2 days no more interest, I just dont know what to do anymore to make her eat as she weighs now 3.8 from 4.6 throughout her 1st year!! |

she has been x-rayed many times in which they have seen all the stones pass, she has not been recently vaccinated as she is up to date on all vac's, her symptoms right now as we speak is just very slow moving just really sad, and thats not her she is a very happy dog always just playing running around and showin lots of love and now she doesnt care about anything. her stools are normal no nausea but the time we took her in the first time as was the reason we took her in cuz we woke up to her having off white mucus type vomit, we just want her to be herself again!!

| If your vet did not specifically check bile acids then I would insist that be done before any ultrasound of the liver. If there is a liver problem then checking the Bile acids will show something. Are there any other symptoms at all ?Also is there a possibility of back injury ? Last edited by lillymae; 02-28-2012 at 09:10 PM. |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | You are absolutely correct to be concerned!. Not eating coupled with her other behaviour symptoms is a serious sign. Ultrasound for liver problems, unless done by an expert in liver shunt detection is almost useless to check for external shunts. Usually a full liver panel blood work is done, then a specific BATS test is done. Then dependent about the specialist a scintography. I would suggest it is time for the specialists to get involved. Ask for an internal medicine specialist referral, or take yourself to the best Veterinary Animal Hospital which has a team of specialists on board. In terms of food, you can try so different things to entice her to eat. Try lamb, and sprinkle with a bit of parmesan cheese, add some cooked squash, or nice green beans, and some plain cooked rice. In the long term she must be on a fully balanced diet, but she does need to keep her weight up. She has lost about 10% of her body weight. If she is not eating, is she drinking water? Dehydration is a concern if she is not drinking water. Check her gums often. Should be pink and moist. Dry and pale means dehydration and an immediate vet visit. Keep us posted And I hope you get to the bottom of what is bothering your girl.

we brought her home and she started beign herself again running around, jumping on everyone that visits, kicking her lil legs back as if she was a bull lol, and she has not been herself for the past week and a half and to see her like this today brought a smile to me and my wife, she is drinking water but she is just very picky i guess in what she eat's, as a pup I started her on the royal canine for yorkies which she loved then started showing less intrest in it till she stopped eating it, then changed to simply nourish which again loved then left, and before she got sick and we introduced the new puppy and started him on roya canine as well and she would go crazy for it also and thats when she got sick and our vet said to give her his food and after 2 days she lost interest, so now I tryed boiled chicken and rice and she moves rice to eat just the chicken but now after 3 days NO INTEREST, so ima try the food's you suggested till I find something she loves because she is picky and I hope thats it!!
