Oh Linz, I'm glad you feel you are on the right track with her finally! Although Lucy doesn't have to deal with all of Layla's other issues - we've been having major urine problems since her bladder surgery. Calling the Vet today to see what to do and wondering myself - do I need to see another vet? I felt really good about this one but . . I don't know now. Anyhow, I'm glad you are on the right track! |
Just reading this now. So sorry Lindsey. You have been through so much i am always in awe of your devotion. I will keep her in my thoughts. Hope she continues to do well and enjoy her life with her wonderful mommy. |
Checking on Layla....hope things are going well. :) |
Thanks guys! Her urine seems to be much better than it was. We will need to take her for another culture soon. I got her discharge notes and they ruled out any sort of kidney disease, and just said that her kidneys are not properly concentrating her urine due to the infection moving to her kidneys from her bladder. I am very happy to know it is not considered a long-term problem. The local vet had been noticing signs of kidney problems for a long time and said it was just going to be something we'd have to deal with when it got bad enough. |

I think the issue with our local vet is she's the only small town vet around and she deals with lots of farm animals and people without the money to pay for anything big. She has told us a few times she doesn't want to do something that will run us up a big bill, and we say NO PLEASE DO if it will help. I would just rather know what's going on than wait for it to get worse! I think she tries to get by with doing the bare minimum because it's what most of her clients want, but not us. We want the best care. Well, funny story, the sitter hasn't been around for a week... I got a nasty virus last week and had to be swabbed for strep throat (turned out I didn't have it.. just a viral infection!) so I stayed home with the dogs Wednesday-Friday last week. The sitter was going to come today, but yesterday my eye started bothering me, and today I went to the doctor and I have pink eye!!! For goodness sakes, I can't catch a break!!! Tomorrow I shouldn't be contagious anymore so I can go back to work and the sitter can come back to work here... I feel bad that I'm taking money from her by being sick! |

So sorry you have been so sick.. |
Oh they have all been taking FULL advantage of having me around! Who knew Kash and Lucy can hold their pee all day when I'm at work (well, with one pee break when the sitter comes!) but when I'm home, it is CRUCIAL that they go outside every 2 hours! And Layla can cry for attention and get it, or cry when Kash bugs her, and have someone tell him to leave her alone lol. |

Good to hear that Layla will be better. I hope YOU and LAYLA will both be well soon.:D |
Thank you! I guess things can always get worse, right? Tonight I am thankful for our local vet. We just got home from another visit. I was downstairs working this evening and Scott was upstairs, about to give the pups baths. I guess before he did, he wanted to trim up Layla's feet. Instead of taking out the clippers, he took out the scissors. He was trying to get a big mat out of her back leg, and she kicked reflexively and got quite a nasty cut. We called the vet's emergency cell phone and met her at the office within 2 minutes, and after a lot of blood, Scott having to go outside and throw up, and me almost passing out, Layla has three stitches and a little bandage. It ended up being quite a little cut but my goodness it was a lot of blood! And now Scott knows from now on, no scissors, especially where she has random reflexes. Thank goodness she couldn't feel it! |
OMGosh! Talk about not catching a break! Jeez! Prayers for all of you! |
