sending hugs for you and healing prayers for sadie |
I'll be Praying for Sadie. Hopefully they will make a timely diagnosis. I know that Thyroid problems can cause pain & swelling in the lower extremities & also symptoms of brain problems.I would be taking her to a neuro ASAP. |

I am so sorry! I'm sure it's been a long night. I'm praying for Sadie and hope she is doing better today. |
Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes. Sadie is still at the hospital. The vet called me this morning and said he would like to keep her till this evening. He still can not find out what is going on with her. He said she will not lay down and relax, she is only calm if one of his staff members holds her. I think that is because she misses Mommy. Her leg is not swollen now but he says it acts like it is cramping and that is very unususal in dogs. Just waiting to see what is going on. |
keeping sadie in my thoughts and prayers. |
Still prayer for Sadie and you... |
I'm so sorry. I hope the vet can help find out what is going on. Prayers for Sadie. |
Just talked to Sadies vet, not the vet at the hospital. He is in CO so it took him awhile to call me back, I called him first before I took her to the hospital. I explained everything to him and he says do not let the hospital give her any iv fluids, this should only be used if she is dehydrated. After talking with him, he knew exactly what I was talking about and he seems to think Sadie is having Petit Mal seizures. He tried very hard to reassure me that this is not painful to her and then I asked him why would she be getting these she is only going to be 2 years old and he said that between the ages of 2 and 4 is when they normally start. So I looked it up on the internet and I am thinking he is right. He said it is also called a focal seizure where the brain focuses on one part of the body, in this case her legs. He described to me exactly what was happening with her and he has not even seen her yet. He wants me to bring her in on Monday and he will do the blood work. He asked me what the blood work was showing and I told him I did not have it done because they told me it could run the bill up way past 500 dollars, he was amazed at that and told me I was smart to wait. He will do the blood work and if all is well he will put her on a medication to help with the seizures. I believe all the prayrers that are being said for my baby are really helping so please keep praying. I love my fellow YT's |

Sending prayer for Sadie....:angel2dl: |
Prayers still going out Sadie. I pray they able to find out what is wrong with her. |
Guess What? Sadie is home with Momma. We still do not know what is going on with her for sure but she has not had an episode at all since she has been home and I am taking her to her vet first thing in the morning so they trusted me to bring her home with the promise that if she gets worse I will bring her back in. When I went to visit her I just could not leave her again. She was so happy to see Mommy she just ran and jumped into my arms and started kissing Mommy all over and I needed that so bad. Now I have one moe thing to add that I noticed. On the way home from the hospital, we stopped at my nieces house, the one that mentored me when she had her pups. Well she has three dogs and they all get along great but today they were all trying to hump her, even her own daughter. My niece and I could not figure out what was going on, they were acting like she was in heat. When we got home, my three boys did the same thing, kept smelling her and trying to hump her. Does anyone have a clue what this might be about? I am going to mention it to the vet tomorrow and my niece says to make sure they check her anal glands cause if they are infected it will make the other dogs think she is in heat, Is this true? Thank you all so much for the love, prayers and support. I just dont know what I would do without this forum. |
P.S. I took a few pics of Sadie and I will post them later. |
So happy she is home with you. I can't answer your question though. |
That's great news that she's back home with her mommy! Don't know much about the anal gland thing but I sure do hope you get some answers from the vet tomorrow. |
I am glad to hear that Sadie is back at home with you. As for the question you had, I have no input as to why this may be happening. Maybe the the Hospital smell? |
So glad she's home.... too many variables... I would think it possible though... |
Praying for little Sadie to have complete healing. She has a wonderful mama in you, Donna. Please keep us updated on her progress! As for the humping...it happens every single time we go to the vet with one of our pets. The humping continues for only about a day and then it's over. I think it's because Sadie smells like hundreds of other pets (due to where she was at)...so they're not technically humping 'her' so much as they are humping by instinct to proclaim dominance on the new animals. There is no new animal...but the smell of other animals is so strong that it brings that natural instinct out in them. It should only last a day or two. |
Prayers for you and your furbaby. My daughter's dog had seizures and is on medication, which helps a lot. It has been a long time since she has had one. It was very scary, but once diagnosed and with proper medication, she has been able to live a normal life. |
