We have been using this for about 4 weeks and maybe helps a little but really can not see much difference. |
Barryn I am just now seeing this thread. Most of my advice I have posted in bon Bon's thread which she linked for you; way back on page 1. It sounds like Buddy still has a rich and stimulating life with his family. Eating and peeing, are just so important. I just wanted to say I hope that the Anipryl begins to work for Buddy. I also want to suggest some more pics and even some videos of your Buddy. I have started to gather together these things for my gal; who is struggling at this time with cancer. |
My little girl, Ashley, suffered from Canine Cognitive Dysfunction the last year of her life. We lost her almost two years ago, a month before her seventeenth birthday. Anipryl helped Ashley with her anxiety and to reduce her pacing and confusion. Ashley needed a great deal of care, but we cherished each moment that we were able to spend with her. We didn't think it was possible, but we grew to love her even more than we had. She was still very responsive to my husband and me, and Ashley knew we loved her dearly. If you have the time, read through the thread that BonBon linked on page one. We struggled each day about whether we were doing what was best for our baby, and with our vet's input, we were assured that despite the dementia, Ashley was still a happy little girl. Your little boy is precious. I hope the Anipryl is able to help him, and I wish you continued love with Buddy during this special time in his life. |
Buddy sounds such a sweet little thing, and he deserves all the care and attention you lavish on him. You are right they are such devoted little dogs all their life's and they are so cherished you want to keep them forever and as long as they are not in any pain that's fine. We have gone through this twice and it is heartbreaking at times but they never cease to amaze you with their love and how they cope just so they can be with you. Good luck with everything and keep us posted on how he is doing.:animal-pa Sound like little Holly is looking out for him too.:aimeeyork |
2 Attachment(s) We love to go camping in our motorhome and the kids seem to enjoy it as well. Holly loves walking beside me and looking up at me and Buddy, well I have to carry him but loves to sit in the sun and feel the heat and wind in his face. We take is bed from home so that he can sleep in it and feel like home. I am SO scared that something will happen to him when we are on the road. We plan on a trip next month to northern ca for a week. Will keep you all informed. |
I'm sorry that it is so scary for you with Buddy, and I understand your fears. You have really beautiful babies. Even though Ashley was almost seventeen, she still walked a couple of miles a day, weather permitting. A lot of times, if she was tired early morning, I carried her, holding her very close. She loved those times, and I think the mental stimulation of walking and taking her places to see people really helped her a lot. It sounds like the trip will be wonderful for Buddy and your family. I hope you have a great time. |
Buddy is just a little doll. I've had two little girls that lived to be 16 1/2 and 18 yrs old. They did go through the disorientation too when they were awake. My Heidi was in kidney failure that last 3 1/2 yrs and I did sub-q fluids and medications every day. She was a real trooper but she did let me know when she had enough. Kady had both eyes removed years before but she could navigate pretty good as long as things were not moved around. She was on the anipryl. In the end she started pushing her head in corners. I took her to the vet one morning and that night she started having seizures. I made the dreaded decision that night to end her suffering but she had gotten to the point that she did not have a good quality of life. My vet now thinks she probably had a brain tumor. Your little guy is precious and I'm sure he'll let you know when he has had enough but until then just give him extra extra love. |
Last night was bath night so we took some new picture. Buddy as you can see, has white eyes and can not longer see or hear. He is 2 lbs 10 oz. Holly is quit the little girl, My wife says she is daddy little girl. |
1 Attachment(s) Maybe I can't load them. :( |

It's been a long time since I posted here but wanted to let people know where are little boy is. He has not eaten just one time and that wasn't very much in the past 3 days. :-( He still gets up and drink and potties but then right back to bed. In the past we have been able to hold him and he would eat out of our hands but now not doing that. He is now 15 1/2 years old. He doesn\'t seem to be in any pain. My wife went to work this morning crying and I don\'t know what to do. Thinking about taking him to the vets but afraid what they may tell me. Any advise? THANKS! |
