Since you are in Montreal, I would take her to Ste. Hyacinthe. I was ready to drive there from northern Vermont when it was suggested that my dog had facial cancer and the people I spoke to on the phone were amazingly helpful. Unfortunately, 3 hrs from Burlington, where I live now, but I would make the trip if I wasnt getting quality care here in town. Bon Chance !!! Bonne Chance. Let us know. Keeping you in our prayers. |
So glad you were able to get in right away - hoping for positive news. |
Zooey update: We went to see a neurologist this afternoon.Same as the first vet, she has diagnosed her with Vestibular syndrome of unknown origin. The neurologist did a 25-30 min neurological evaluation. Says that considering what she is going through, Zoey responded surprisingly well to all the tests. So she supports the ear infection hypothesis. She has adjusted her medication though. She reduced the dosage of the 1st antibiotic by 75%. She did add another antibiotic to make sure we covers more types of bacterial infections. She also prescribed a anti-nausea med to make a bit more bearable for our little zoey. The neurologist reassured my spouse that 3-4 days is way too early for Zoey to show any signs of improvement. We should 1st expect zoey to stabilize and then slowly over the course of severall weeks to recover. Just to make sure, she did a blood test on her which we do not have the results yet. And has warned us that if no signs of improvement or deterioration, over the next couple of weeks , an MRI would be to next step. Will keep you posted..........thanks for all the responses and well being wishes |
So glad you got Zoey in to see a Neurologist. I wish the diagnosis was a bit more definite for you guys though. :( I'm happy to see she adjusted the meds. I was concerned about the baytril dose and her vomiting. 15mg of Baytril is a lot for a dog of her size. Did she give you any restrictions on Zoey's movement or can she still have free reign? I hope Zoey starts to improve soon. |
I will keep Zoey in my thoughts and prayers. I hope she does start to improve on the meds. |
Thank you for posting. I'm so happy that the meds were adjusted and that a neuro is monitoring her health. Please let us know how Zoey is doing when you can. |
the new set of antibiotics have not done anything to improve her condition. she is not able to stand anymore always flipping on the right side. She is getting an mri today and if needed a spinal tap. I will keep you posted. |
