That's wonderful news. |
Wonderful News! I am so happy for you both:) |
Thanks all for the kind words and prayers! I was able to visit with Gigi this evening. She looked sooo exhausted. The docs assured me she was doing okay...moving around in her cage, alert and was eating her food. It just so happened they had given her some pain meds prior to my visit...hence the sleepiness and lethargy. She did perk up when I had to leave....she was like wait Momma I'm going with you :) If all goes well tonight, she should be able to come back to the hotel with me tomorrow. If all goes well on Saturday, then we should be able to travel back to home on Sunday. Erica |
Prayers to you and Gigi. Hope all continues to go well. Susan |

That's terrific news, and I'm so glad you've been able to visit already. It always breaks my heart when they look sad like that, but I honestly think your bond will improve as she relies on you for the rest of your recovery. Sending my best, and thanks for the updates. |

Gigi update 1 Attachment(s) HI Everyone, I wanted to bring everyone up to date on Gigi's progress. We had a minor setback yesterday in that she refused to eat any food. She ate really well the day of surgery but by next day she stop eating. Dr. Hodshon and Dr. Tobias felt it would be best if she stayed at the hospital for another day for further evaluation. She refused to eat any RX food and hadn't eaten in 24 hours. I was able to get her to eat some cottage cheese yesterday at around 7:30pm. Throughout this ordeal, she had been alert, eating and with very little complication. They did blood work and ultrasound- no issues. One of the residents decided to give her a little chicken and voila..she ate. Dr. Hodshon surmised Gigi had an appetite just not for the RX food. So, I'm going to work the the UT nutritionist for a custom diet for her. I was able to bring her back to the hotel today. Gigi is alert and resting comfortably. I'm going to hang out here in TN today and head home to VA tomorrow. Many thanks to Gigi's UT surgical team (left to right): Dr. Tobias, vet student Amy Hamilton, and Dr. Hodshon.:thumbup: And many thanks to you guys for the well wishes, prayers and support! |
I'm sorry that she had a set back, but glad that she ate some chicken. I am happy to hear she is with you in the hotel. Great picture. I tell you Dr.Tobias looks like she has gotten younger. Prayers still continue for Gigi. |
LS survivor My Gabby had Shunt Surgery on the 26th of October. She hardly would eat for the first few days. Scary I know, and I have been there. Gabby will eat LS Canin soaked for about ten minutes with apple bits and goat cheese. Go to the Liver Shunt Support group on Yahoo. They have many helpful hints on diet. I believe the worst is behind us both. Good luck, I am so glad you had the surgery. I know for Gabby it has given her another chance at a happy and healthy life. :animal36 |
So happy all is well. I was a bit worried when you did not post yesterday. Gigi looks great in the picture!! :) |
