Surgery in that area is very tricky. Lots of nerves in that area.
Oh, I hate to hear that George needs surgery. But agree with everyone that you will make sure he goes to the best vet hospital for anything he needs for this difficult surgery. Wish there was something we could do to help. (But, of course, will continue prayers and positive thoughts.)

what a gorgeous little guy george is! so sorry to be reading that he is in need of surgery but thankful it will be done at a&m. sending positive thoughts and prayers that all goes well with the surgery and your little george will be right back to his healthy usual self very soon. thanks for sharing this info as my 2 girls have a yearly dental and as you said, this is something that could just happen. i haven't heard of this previously.

Wishing you the very best outcome for A&M tommorow. I am very happy to hear that you will be back with the Soft Tissue Surgery Department after the miracles they worked for Summer. I will be thinking about you and praying that George won't need the surgery. I will "sneak" on at school and check for updates!

Update on George
 
George's sialocele has to be removed. They told Linda that it could have been caused by trauma or it could be cancer :(

George is spending the night for surgery tomorrow so they can remove this horrible thing and send it to pathology and figure out what it is. He isn't too happy to be without his momma. Apparently he throws temper tantrums when left at the hospital. Linda is worried about her George, he's a little old man but in great health.

Prayers for George (and his vets) that he gets some rest tonight and that all goes well tomorrow.

Aw Linda...he's so adorable...love the pics. So sorry to hear he gets so stressed if he has to stay at the vets...like leaving him there doesn't make you worry enough on it's own!! I will be thinking of both of you. :love:

Thank you everyone for thinking of my sweet Georgie. It has been a long day...he was admitted and the surgery will be done tomorrow morning around 10AM...he is the first case.

Their main concern for him is the anesthesia....they did a chest xray today and found that he has a profound collapsed trachea. Totally blew me away! He has no symptoms of it at all. I did suspect a mild CT after he had the problem with the cyanosis last week after the dental; but in talking to them today the collapse is in the cervical region and thoracic at the level of about the 1st rib so the endo tube shouild have supported the trachea. SO...while there are some risks to the surgery...and while he could possibly have cancer :( , the main risk does seem to be the anesthesia. Thankfully they have an anesthesia team...and I have had a history of a CT pup at A&M that went real bad after surgery and they saved him...so I can only trust that he is in good hands. Sorry...I am rambling now. :(
