| ![]() Well, we went for a second consult on Lucy's mammary tumors. The vet did a full blood work panel, and a chest X-ray. It turns out that Lucy has kidney disease as well, so surgery is not an option for her. We did biopsy the mammary growth, and cancer cells were present. Her chest xray was clear, so for now, the cancer has not spread. The doctor started her on a medication for the kidney disease, I joined the k9 kidney disease group on Yahoo, and have been cooking Lucy a special diet. Her new labs came back better, so for the moment she is stable. I also consulted with a wonderful vet in the FL. Keys, who I have used before, and she was able to suggest special vitamins for anemia, and give me a few other hints, tips and tricks to help me keep Lucy eating well and gaining weight. It's so hard to believe that my little girl is so sick when she is still acting so normal and playing. Despite everything we're going through (she is deaf, no teeth, and dementia) she is still one of the best thing that has ever happened to me in my life, and I got such a gift that snowy night last winter when I found her alone, hungry and sick. I reported her, posted ads and fliers, but no one ever claimed her. Their loss was my gain. We travel together, shop together, eat and sleep together, and I can't even begin to imagine living my life without her. I have to go get a Klenex now. Don't forget to hug your babies tight while you can.

| ![]() I am certain I remember when you first posted about your sweetie. Your post put tears in my eyes as you desribed how you found her/she found you. What a wonderful year she has had and I am sure 2011 will be one filled with many puppy kisses and love. I am wishing you both well and hope Lucy continues to do well. Keep the faith and give her a big hug for me. |
