I am sorry Jo Jo got sick , I hope he starts feeling better very soon. both my yorkie , Suzi and Shih Tzu, Miely are always looking at us when we eat , sometimes Suzi will get pushy if you spill food on your shirt, they wait and hopw that food lands on the floor , we do not feed them human food but they are such little beggers. Sometimes we will put them in anther room just so we can eat. I think one time Suzi pawed out some food from under the oven , ate it and got very sick. Or we think it could of been from eating bird seed , it was terrible and very scary. She was pretty young when it happened so the vet tested for Parvo , and it was not that , she was not dehydrated either , but the vet kept her the rest of the day for observation.

I hope Jojo feels better soon. My sister gave her cockers an italian beef the other day and the young one got so sick. It took her little Sophie 4 days to get back to normal. Many of us have learned the hard way not to give them human food.

I am so glad that JoJo wasn't too ill and I hope that he is is feeling better by now. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers.


Please tell JoJo that he can't be the Taco Bell mascot -- that job is taken by as Chihuahua.

He is bound to be weak after all of that throwing up, but he should start recovering more by tomorrow. I'll keep him in my thoughts and hope he is bouncing around again very soon.

That's the ER hospital Louie's vet refers us to if there's ever a problem after hours. We're right around the corner. Thankfully we've never had to use it but that's good to know you and Taryn had a positive experience.

I only give my dogs small tidbits of bland food that I cooked as a treat. Same with my rats. I'm very careful about their diets and am very overprotective. But on the bright side, I never have tummy issues :) Lots of people wouldnt think that it would bother a dog to give them "yummy" stuff but it does. I'm glad your baby is ok and I hope hes all better soon!

Ahh! How could I forget about Louie! Yes, that place is good. The dude is a little bit...Weird, but he knows his stuff and does care about the animals.
It's sad when we moved here, before I signed the closing papers, I googled the closest ER vet to make sure I was max 15 min. away. I know, I'm a dork.

I commend you for doing the right thing.

Please also look into toxic for dog foods, plants, house hold items and start reading in the health section about proper treats & foods.

Okay, so it's 2 days later and he hasn't vomited again since, but now he is having very runny (squirty) diarrhea. The vet had given him 2 injections, 1 injection-Gastro-Intestinal & 1 injection-Antiemetic 0-40 lbs (this was for his upset tummy).

The vet said if diarrhea is persistent, to give him over the counter Famotidine 10mg, which is another name for Pepcid. But I thought this was used for ulcers & acid reflux? Would this really help his diarrhea? I've been feeding boiled chicken/rice (no pumpkin as he hates it) to no avail.

Famotidine is perfectly safe and wonderful for an array of tummy problems. anytime mine act sick, have runny poop, or don't eat well or have bad gas they get a little pepcid to ease up their tummies. it's fine to give as long as you know the dosages you are allowed to give and don't give more than the suggested dose per day.

I use Pepcid which was recommended by my vet as well for Buster. I am glad Jo Jo is feeling better. Buster can be quite the beggar and I learned this hard lesson as well. I remember this frightening thread about a marinade with Xylitol http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...op-crying.html

Went to the vet and she gave Rx for Flagyl. He'll be on bland diet for at least next 5 days. I hope his tummy gets better soon, for his sake and mine! The ickiest thing happened yesterday...we both laid down in my bed to take a nap and an hour later I woke up to the smell of poo. I thought, Oh no he pooped again and I have to go clean it up. Well, as I sat up, I noticed the smell was VERY strong, like it was right next to me. I looked on the bed and sure enough, there it was. I threw all bedding in the wash and went and sat on the couch, but the overwhelming smell of poo was still there. I couldn't figure it out until I walked past a mirror and saw it was all over my hair!! Apparently,I had rolled over on it while I was asleep!! I never jumped in the shower so fast!

I mean, I love my little guy, but I never want his poo that close to my face again!

You are one of the sick emergency posters who are few and far between you took responsibility and did the right thing for your dog.

Note after awhile those like you stick around many of use came here under these same circumstances...and a few have also been poohed on too!
