| ![]() Hi everyone - my little yorkie Charlie ( 5 ) has begun bleeding quite heavily from his penis, the blood is fresh and we thought it was as a result of getting too friendly with his new fluffy 'toy.' There have been 3 episodes over the last few days, he is otherwise absolutely himself. His eating and drinking are unaffected and he is sleeping as normal, but there are blood trails everywhere ! |

| ![]() This is something that you need to go to the vet about because it can be caused by more serious issues. But I will tell you that I took my GSD in for dripping blood from there this past year, he is a lot older than your little yorkie tho. It turned out that he was irritating himself by licking his parts because of his allergies. Like I said tho we had many tests done to rule out more serious issues first. His was a drop here and there tho he was not leaving a trail of blood. I personally think it is entirely possible that your little Romeo has been romancing his fluffy toy too much and I would take away the object of his affection and see if it stops( that seems to be much more blood than what I had) regardless. I would also make a vet appt for as soon as possible. If he is acting otherwise fine I dont think I would go to the emergency vet because you will need to have some fairly extensive testing done ,it is something that probably can wait til tomorrow. JMHO.Good Luck, and let us know what they say Dawn P.S.You should also CALL your ER vet and see what they say as far as emergency or not. Last edited by diva pup; 11-27-2005 at 11:47 AM. |

I Love Thor Donating Member | ![]() Hello, Welcome to YT! I have a little boy (dog!!!) who is 8months, and he gets very friendly with his toy caw and whale. I have never heard of bleeding from getting over excited. I would suggest that you get the vet and figure out what is going on. I hope your little buster is okay, and please do keep us updated! I looked online and came up with this...It's probably not this, but it's just another reason to get your guy to the vet asap! von WILLEBRAND'S DISEASE - vWD Von Willebrand's Disease is the name given to a group of similar inherited bleeding disorders that occur in humans, pigs, dogs and rabbits. vWD is usually less clinically severe than hemophilia and is inherited as an autosomal trait. This means that it can be transmitted equally by and to both sexes. Carriers are asymptomatic but affected dogs may exhibit any of the following symptoms: excessive bleeding when the nails are cut too short, severe bleeding during surgery, bleeding from the nose or gums, particularly during teething, bleeding from the vagina or penis , hematomas on the surface of the body, limbs or head, internal bleeding, lameness from bleeding into the joints, stillbirths or neonatal deaths with evidence of hemorrhage at autopsy, chronically infected and bloody ears, prolonged bleeding during the heat cycle or after whelping, bleeding in stools or urine. In addition to the inherited variety, an acquired version has also been reported in humans as well as dogs, associated with thyroid hormone deficiency (hypothyroidism). |

| ![]() Welcome to YT !!!! Charlie needs to go see the vet. I don't think this is something I would wait on, there could be different things that could be causing this. The sooner it is treated the better the out come will be.
