Finally, Basil's Splint is off Seems as if it was more like 6 months, but this morning Basil has his cast removed and an X-Ray taken of his leg. It looks great. He can now start going for slow 5 minute walks on a leash, and next week the time can lengthen. He has to be kept quiet with no running or Jumping for at least another month, and in 6 weeks he will go back for a final X-Ray to ensure complete healing. He has some sores on the leg where the splint rubbed, but that will clear up. Hardest part will be to keep him from licking and biting the sore areas. so he has a soft collar and a soft boot on. |
Very happy to hear the splint is off and Basil's leg is healed! You have a tough job keeping him from crazy Yorkie antics. |

Glad to hear Basil's splint is off! He'll be back to Yorkie antics with his brother in no time. They are such little cuties. |
That is great news:thumbup: |
So Happy to hear Basil got his splint off and will get to walk around some. |
Yea! No more broken bones ok Basil? |
Yeah I'm so for Basil that his splint is finally off. Now tell him to be a good boy and take it easy. No more broken bones. |
Glad to hear things are looking up for Basil. I bet he can't wait to run and play, poor little guy it's so hard to keep them quiet. |
He was smiling a bit on his first 5 minute walk. He got a bit tired. Outside from where his leg was shaved and the few sores, his leg looks perfect! His brother is in his face and can't understand why we will not let Basil out to play and run with him. |
Great news about Basil. I wouldn't want to be in your shoes trying to keep him from running, jumping, and playing.:) |
I was just wondering earlier today if it was off yet....YAY Basil! I'm so happy for the little guy and I know he must be tickled to pieces:thumbup: |
My goodness that little guy has been through so much, lol, he really is going to be the 6 million dollar dog, bionic legs and all! Steve, I've got to say, I love your attitude, you seem to take it all in stride, and never complain "why me?" You set a good example for the rest of us! |
So happy to hear that Basil has finally gotten his splint off!! He must be one very happy yorkie!! |
Hooray for Basil!!! Happy to hear his leg has healed well. :) |

So glad to hear Basil got his splint removed...... It is going to be quite a chore keeping him from running/jumping, etc. ;) |
Steve, I'm happy to hear Basil is healing so well!! Bet he is glad to be free of the cast! |
The little clown has no idea that he even broke his leg, so it is constantly watching him as he tried to jump out of his 30" high pen, and when outside, will try to run even on the leash. He still has a tad of a limp on that leg, but it is getting better each day. It will be harder now for the next 6 weeks keeping him from acting like a Gymnist than the previous six weeks. Naturally his brother gets him going, and God Forbid if it was Caper instead of Basil, because he is on Speed! But so far, so good. Carlo was chewing a big bone, and basil walked up to him on the leash and took the bone away. I get the shakes just thinking if Basil and Caper were Carlo's size with their Terrier temperment. |
Yay for Basil! I cannot even imagine trying to keep him quiet for another 6 weeks! You, sir, must have the patience of a saint! |
