Vomiting My 10 yr old yorkie is vomiting yellow foam & just doesnt seem comfortable. I have heard Pepto is good. |
Old thread! My dog had similar symptoms over a week ago and I took him immediately to the vet for check up and tests, as last time he was like this he had mild pancreatitis that was caught early. He was given anti nausea and pain meds and I fed him a GI diet. I was given special doggie Pepto to firm up the stool, but never had to use it. The vet said the human pepto had other chemicals in it, but I did not check about that and took the med from the vet. As for foamy vomit, it is usually due to an empty tummy or gastric reflux. Perhaps a vet call might be the safe thing to do before treating? |

Always safer to have a vet check them out. Pancreatitis can kill a pup! Vomiting and discomfort are signs of pancreatitis...could be something else, but I don't play around with those symptoms because I have seen how fast these pups can go downhill. I have never been advised to use Pepto Bismol and have some concerns about using it. |
Pepto? I hope the poor baby is well now. I always take any change in behavior in my baby very seriously and contact a vet. My last little girl just had a mild tummy upset and seemed well, but in fact had late stage kidney failure which soon claimed her little life. My current boy had a similar upset some years ago that turned out to be mild Pancreatitis. So it is wise to be safe and get a pet checked out if sick or behaving abnormally. Poor babies are very long suffering and don't complain when they feel bad, we have to see the signs and act on them. |
