Just spoke with the vet, I'm bringing her there in about an hour to be re-evaluated...if any tests need to be done I'd rather have done there since I know & trust them...so far she seems OK, but I'm still going to get her checked. Thanks again everyone! |

Usually with vomiting episodes, esp. one that caused dehydration, food is restricted. If it is given, it should be bland. Nutro definitely isn't bland. Also, you might want to Google "consumer affairs nutro". This food will do her no favors in the vomiting department. They can get weak from dehydration, but falling over I'd highly doubt. She does still need bloodwork done immediately to evaluate her better. |

I just checked the consumer complaints against nutro - those reviews make me very nervous about continuing to feed her that brand...I will talk to the vet about it...thank you |
my jack russell did this once and it was his liver enzymes off from being sick and throwing up. |
just got back from my vet...he knows the vet I took her too last night & said I made a good decision by refusing service there lol...anyway he checked her out, he's pretty sure that it was just an upset stomach from the pupperoni sticks I've been giving her, but he's doing blood work anyway to check for pancreatitis and liver shunts...he gave Roxy meds to calm her stomach and chews to take home to continue calming her stomach. He also gave me special food to feed her just until we get the results back and at that point we can discuss a proper diet for her. I'm relieved that I was able to bring her to the vet that I know & trust and I feel much better now after talking with the dr...once again thank you all for your support, it really meant a lot to me & my little puppy :) |
So glad to hear you got to the vet you know and trust, and that he is starting blood tests and diet change for your little one! We're going to hope it was just that darn pupperoni, but glad he is checking to be thorough and sure. Just an FYI, these little ones seem very sensitive to high fat foods, junk food, etc. I had one with chronic pancreatitis, and the vet told me these little yorkies just do not digest junk as well as we humans do. (Daddy had to quit giving her a little "nip" of his bacon when he made breakfast - bad daddy!) Good to hear her dr is on top of things. Hoping she is feeling better and back to her old self in no time! |

Years ago, my Irish Terrier ate a Pupperoni Stick, and had seizures. Until this time, he had no history of seizures. We made the connection after my mom gave him a Pupperoni another day, and he seized again. We threw them in the trash can, and the seizures stopped. He lived to be 18 1/2. I'm not sure why the Pupperonis made Wishbone seize, but if I were you, I wouldn't give your sweet little Roxy any more. I pray all is well with her now, and that she recovers fully. |
OK so spoke with the vet today...blood work came back everything seems fine except white blood cell count was a little off...but shes not vomiting or drinking/peeing excessively...I've been giving her hill's science diet i/d and she seems to really like the food, but, I have noticed she has been pooping less & it has been a little darker (does this seem abnormal? - I forgot to ask the vet) Tomorrow morning I take her back to the vet to get the bile acids test? (test for liver shunt) so hopefully that goes well too...she seems back to her old self which makes me very happy, but I'm still nervous that something could possibly be wrong with her :( |
