I've spent the last two days reading this thread from front to back. That is, when I could keep the tears blotted away.
This wee girl reminds me of my Jenna. She was never used as a plaything for bigger dogs, but she was a neglected rescue and keeps her scars on the inside. You see them in her eyes every once in awhile.
Summer's clinginess to you LJ is much like how Jenna is with me. It made Summer's challenges ring familiar. Sweet thing!

I am so glad Summer's story is closer to that happy ending in her forever home. We'll include our prayers and best wishes for a full and swift recovery.

That first picture just breaks my heart -- she looks so very sad -- like "why would people let this happen to me?"

I don't know how you do what you do day after day without losing it. I'm afraid a day would come when I would lock someone in a cage and leave them to be neglected and forgotten.

Luckily, I don't see the jerks who do these things. I feel so sorry for the shelter workers...they are the ones who have to deal with them. No way could I handle that.

I don't know how you do it either. I took a Dachshund from a friend of a family friend who was not being cared for properly but not NEARLY as neglected as pups like Summer. I took care of him as much as I could and then brought him to a rescue where he's now in a foster home, but I cried like a baby when I left him there!! And this dog was going to a good place, a good home, but I felt sooo terrible that his owner did not even care to say goodbye and I cared more about this pup that I had known for ONE day over this guy who had him for 5 years! So yeah I don't know how people do rescue day in and day out, I think I'd be emotionally drained every day.

I think the good outweighs the bad every time. When you finally see the pup in a different element, a smile in their eye, a sigh of being happy and content it must melt their heart. :) LJ could probably describe that better than I can.

I have been thinking of Summer and come to YT to check up on her. I look at her picture everyday on my desk at work. She is a special girl to me.

I am glad she is doing well, I have to go back and read some and see what has been happening.

Oh that would be wonderful. Summer is just an angel. Her story really touches the heart.

Summer has a Christmas wish from all of her friends here on YT. Her vet tech friend who took such good care of her is in an online contest. If you would like to help her, please PM me for information.

It is Summer's way of paying her good friend back. :)
