| ![]() Petey my full sized Yorkie was bit by either a flea, ants or a spider right on the under base of his tail, well it has been driving him nuts and he's been chewing when ever we aren't looking, now it's just a hairless inflamed strip that is looking a bit infected. I got out the Cone and made it as small as I could, I put an old bandana in the loops because I couldn't find his collar, I then put it on him, well I never realized Yorkie's had such good Reverse Skills! The only thing I need an answer on is the length of the Cone, how far is it suppose to stick out from his nose?? I don't think he could eat with this thing on, how much can I cut off before he's able to go back to chewing himself?? |

| ![]() Oh, so you have been to a vet and gotten something to relieve him? Is that why you only want to know about the cone? I would say test it. Cut only small parts off at a time.

| ![]() The cone must be that large that the dog can not reach and scratch himself. Here are few pics: This dogs cone is too big. http://hearingelmo.files.wordpress.c...6/dog-cone.jpg This one is too small. http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...tLkVCffdUys1IQ The head sticks up from the cone it should not do that. http://www.ibirite.net/wp-content/up...%20small_2.jpg This one is the right size. Just watch out that the nose doesn't stick out of the cone then he can scratch himself most likely ![]()

| ![]() Don't cut the cone get a new one if its too small or too big, your vet will probably let you come with the dog and the cone and change it if it doesn't fit. Don't cut the cone it could be uneven then and it could be sharp and hurt the dog, just get a new one they aren't expensive. I don't recomand to put the thing on bananas around the cone to hold it, find some thick band and put it in to hold the cone you can use almost everything. Has the vet checked out the bite? if not I would go tomorrow to the vet and let him have a look you'll get medications for him and something to clean the wound probably. Good luck !

| ![]() Sorry I post so many comments but I forgot one thing. You can take the cone off while the dog eats but have him leashed then so he doesn't run away and use the moment to scratch.
