Any remedies for swollen eyes? So my baby Gizmo has his eyes swOllen shut! Not to happy about it but this happens like 10% of the time after we have given him a bath, we always make sures his eyes are clean and free of soap and our routine hasn't changed when we bathe him. Hes been scratching his eyes and they are swollen shut, not worried because it's haPpened before and he's usually fine after a day. I just wanted to know are there any home remedies that can help the little guy out. He's especially lethargic today, won't eat drink or play. Hope you guys can help! |
Please take your baby to the vet immediately. He could very well have a corneal scratch or ulcer. Swollen, holding eyes shut (because of pain and sensitivity to light) are classic symptoms. Watery, tearing, and discharge are also symptoms. Eyes can get infected quickly and turn into big problems that could make your baby lose his sight, or even lose his eyes. If you call your vet's office and tell them it is his eyes, they should take you in immediately. If not, go to an ER. |
Doesn't matter that it happens sometimes and that it goes away on its own. Your pup needs to see a vet today to figure out just what is going on. It's best to get him in in the middle of an episode. He is obviously very uncomfortable and this is not something that should be treated with home remedies. What if he has an infection or eye disease that you only notice at certain times, etc.? The eyes should never wait. Things can go bad very quickly. |

Maximo has had many eye problems, so we know the importance of getting in to the see doctor right away. |
Agree, to the Vet you go! Now |
I concur - you need to get this baby to the vet today for management of the pain and to assess the eye. Best wishes. |
Swollen eyes are not normal and you really need to take him to the vet! |
Could be so many things. Take him in they will be able to give him something for it. He may be having a allergic reaction and each time it could get worse. So please have it checked out. |
This poor pup needs to see a vet today. My poor guy woke up with one eye swollen shut yesterday and he was in so much pain. He is on three medications right now to help him and he is still in some pain and quite lethargic today. This is not something that should be left alone. Your baby is in pain. |
Gizmo eyes Please do not hesitate to take him to the Vet asap. My little dog had watery eyes for a couple of weeks that I treated with eye ointment and he got better. I, like you, thought it was a minor issue and treated it. However, later he developed a cataract(looked like a white spot in his eye) and uveitis, both serious conditions. As it happens the uveitis appeared after a groomer visit. I am not suggesting that Gizmo has such a condition, but if he does, it needs to be diagnosed soon and treated properly before it gets worse. I pray that he only has a minor infection, but better to be safe than sorry. Get well soon Gizmo. |

I agree with everyone else. Eye problems can get serious quickly and they rarely go away without medical help. Please take your baby to the Vet. Update us when you can, we are all concerned for your little one. |

Have you taken Gizmo to the vet today? Sight is nothing to mess around with. |
Little Gizmo needs to see a vet asap. I like you, thought at first it was just water in the eyes from a bath. Kayla started having problems before I got her rinsed good. I blow dryed her and took her straight to the vet and I am soooo glad I did. It was not water in her eyes, she had an ulcer. They can lose their sight. It is very serious. Please don't let it go on and get him to the vet. Let us know how he is doing and hope he is better soon. Also, my vet said those ulcers are very painful. |
