Hope by this time you have had vet treatment and pain medication and all is fine. Can you imagine the pain, irritation and pressure from swelling so intense as to force an eye closed? You have got to find a way to prevent this in the future to best keep your baby's eyes safe. I have always used a drop of sterile mineral oil in all of my Yorkies eyes and have never had any irritation problems with any of the three - my first being in 1978. You would have to test it somehow first if you choose to use it and be sure to read up on the associated problems some have had but it sounds like you have got to try something to stop this from hurting your baby this much over and over. Ask your vet what he recommends for prevention - even stopping using the same shampoo or much floording of the eyes with clear water, etc. Hope your little one is now resting comfortably out of pain and has no future bouts. Waiting until the next day for it to get better is no option when pain and swelling of eyes are concerned and you would not do it with your own eyes so please don't let your little one suffer that way anymore. You probably just didn't think how awful the 24 hours are for him and how dangerous this condition is for a bad burn and infection. Hope all is much better tonight.

just last week i went through a similar thing with my zowi. she was rubbing the top of her head and around her eyes, and had some minor hair loss in both places, so i took her to the vet that afternoon. as everyone else has stated, eye problems are an emergency! in zowi's case it was a slight skin infection and she had swelling around her eyes. no ulcers or scratches in her eyes, thank god. she was given an oral antibiotic (simplicef) and a triple antibiotic iontment with hydrocortisone salve that goes in both of her eyes. i would not attempt any kind of remedy at home for this that was not recommended by the dr because you could make it much worse. her visit and meds cost under $100. much better than having it get worse or losing sight! she has been on her meds for 6 days as of today and is doing much much better, no more rubbing or scratching.
