Ok this is beyond gross!!!! Last week i took Jersey to the vet had some kind of bite that was infected on his side. I thought maybe spider or bee, Doc put him on antibiotic for 7 days. It looked better not infected looking anymore but not healed. I took him back today because it looked like a big mosquito bite with a pin hole that was getting bigger. Doc shaved the area and said it was live larva under the skin:eek: OMG poor baby has a creature living under his skin, so gross I could vomit. He couldn't remove it today because Jersey ate this AM and he needs to put him under. Monday AM the procedure will be done. I am so grossed out but feel so bad for Jersey. Wish me luck getting through this weekend and on Mondayi |

My pups lead a pretty sheltered life, he goes out to potty and a run around the yard but that's it. He is never outside for long periods of time.We do have a lot of critters that go through the yard too! |

When Fritz had it, it was a botfly caught from being near wild rabbits apparently. The flies lay their eggs beneath the skin f the "host":eek: |
Oh, that is awful! Your poor baby. I hope the procedure goes seamlessly and critter-free, he does fine. |

That same thing happened to Maddie a few years ago, but the vet just used a pointy hemostat and pulled it right out. Then, just last week, my sister took her dog to the vet and same thing! Her vet also removed it on the spot. It's a bot fly larvae. I thought the fly had to lay an egg on the animal, but my sister was told they can lay their eggs anywhere and if the dog or human comes in contact with it and the egg just implants on them. Gross indeed. I totally freaked when Maddie had hers. If I remember right, it happens more in hot, humid weather. Good luck with little Jersey and I hope Monday comes quickly for you and you can have this all behind you! |

Poor Jersey! Wishing him well with the procedure. Sending curses for that critter that dared to implant itself on your cutie. :( |
