Post traumatic stress in Yorkie On Sunday my baby Elizabeth Victoria broke away from me and ran in the street and she hit the fender of a moving car. She was thrown a little and rolled and laid in the street. My daughter got to her 1st and picked her up, had an abraison on the inside of her leg. Was scared but nothing was broken, thank the Good Lord. Took her for a walk to see if she limped or anything all seemed fine but wanted to be held which is unusual for her. Monday she seem lethargic but ate and drank some. Tuesday was more lethargic so I took her to the pet clinic, told me she was sore but would be fine in a few days. Later that day she began vomiting up whatever she ate and had diarhea which was black in color. I know that could mean internal bleeding. Took her to a regular vet today. They ran blood test which were normal and took x-rays which they will have the results tomorrow. Said she should be ok in a couple of weeks if not I am to return her to the vet. She is only 13 months and VERY active. Her just laying there is not like her. Is this normal after such a accident such as this? I lost my husband 2 years ago and last fall I adopted her from a rescue group. Elizabeth has put activity in my life after my husbands passing. I can't have any thing happen to her. Any advise would be greatly appreciated:4lc: |
I wouldn't think it would be normal behavior, but I have never had something like that happen. It could be that her leg is very sore where it was injured and it will probably take a good while for it to heal. Let me know how the x-rays turn out. Good luck to you. Lots of babying always helps, too.:) |
Bless your heart, happy to hear she has no serious injuries. I am sorry to hear about the loss of your husband, but you have a new little one to help your heart heal. If you trust your vet I would go by what they tell you unless something in her changes. I would think the scare of being hit would cause her some issues, also if she is a rescue then it is hard to know what she has been through. My prayers are with you and your baby. |
She was hit by a car and you didn't take her to the vet? Or am I reading this wrong? |
sick yorkie She wasnt hit by the car. She ran into the car. Got xray report back and she has severe internal injuries that are to extensive to repair. She is being put down tomorrow. This is the longest night I think I have spent for a couple of years. I am going to get another little yorkie in a few weeks. |

I am so sorry to hear about your little one. My heart is breaking for you. I will keep you and your furbaby in my prayers. |
my baby my baby died during the night. It was not a money issue, it was a work issue. I have to work and couldn't get off yesterday |
A work issue led you to leave a dog to suffer? I don't get it. Some things are best left unsaid and unknown. RIP Elizabeth |
