So glad Jackson is improving. You are such a good mommy to him, I know you are dedicated to doing whatever it takes to get him well and keep him healthy. It is a challenge, but keep up the good work Britt. Hugs to ya both! |
Poor Jackson, thanks for the update. Praying for your little buddy! ♥ |
Glad Jackson got good news! I had to quit giving Ringo pig ears and bully sticks after his round of 'enteritis' when he got into some chicken bones. And I had to quit putting gravy on his food (yes, I used to do this!). I know he misses them but the after effects were just not worth it; I don't even think HE thought they were worth it. I still give him treats (how else am I gonna make him SIT?) but sparingly and we have had no problems if I watch it. Jackson is going to live a long, healthy, and HAPPY life and that's the best news of all! :) Yay Jackson! |
Hope Jackson is having a good day:) |
Thx everybody! :):) We went for a 35 minute walk this AM (I was dogsitting another dog, so had to be super early) and we went at 6am before the sun was too hot. I don't want him getting too dehydrated. He was sooo happy to be out and about -- he wanted to keep going. He is doing well. :) Still eating the E/N kibble perfectly fine, thank goodness. He's down to 2 meals a day per the vet's instructions. I've been feeding him part of one meal through the Kong. I put a few kibbles in there and then 'seal' it with the e/n wet food, he really seems to enjoy that. Thank you for all your well wishes and your continued help and support :) I will keep you updated. |
Glad to hear Jackson's on the mend.... it is all quite confusing though, which is sad. I prefer when you can take them in to the vet and they say this is what's wrong and this is how to fix it and this is how long it will take. Period! Just to confuse matters more (JK): I've seen on here (YT) when some dogs are allergic to dog food that is chicken based, but have no problems eating home cooked chicken. This points to allergies to the preservatives used in preserving the chicken used in making the dog foods... |

I'm still kind of confused about the whole thing. I almost got the vibe that the vet wasn't even for sure it was pancreatitis... she told me she was pretty sure that it "was" but now it might just be a GI issue, etc, so I'm still confused as to his actual 'diagnosis'. |
So very glad to hear Jackson is feeling better:) |

And no, she didn't say anything about further testing. |
Tried to edit my last post, but time was up. For sure. This is where I'm at right now. I am not going to risk anything of having to go through that again! I am going to be so strict in regards to his diet and I don't care if it makes me looks crazy, lol. I am no longer going to put him in situations where a lot of terrible food is "available" to him, for one. If he comes with me to a family get-together, he's going to be leashed up to me the whole time. That's a new rule I've set in place. I have given my whole family who sees him often a set of rules that he is never to be given anything from them. They've all been very good and even my 3 1/2 year old sister is learning to pick her plate/food/etc up and put it away when she's done. She was very worried about Jackson. I think this will all be for the better anyway -- my dads dogs are no longer getting people food. My dad has decided it's simply not worth it. So hopefully his dogs will become healthier as well. |
