Prayers for you and Bug. I hope the little guy is stubborn and pulls through. |
Adding my prayers! Hang in there little Bug!!!! |
I highly suggest you give him 1/2 goats milk and 1/2 baby rice cereal mixed with kayro syrup. At this point he needs something solid to hold to his ribs so to speak. I'd syringe feed him atleast 3 cc's every 3 to 4 hours. Once you see this helping him to get stronger then start adding in dry kibble that is made into a powder with a coffee bean grinder. It makes the dry kibble like instant coffee grounds and then add that to the baby rice cereal mixture. It will also help if you keep the liver mixture in this too, the liver will help him alot with the mixture I suggested. I would surely add them all together. I hope your little man improves!! |
I also forgot to add give him a little bit of Pedialyte to help keep his electrolytes in balance. I'd give him atleast 2 to 4 cc's a day. |
Sending prayers for this little one. God love him. |
I am pulling for little Bug too. How is he doing? He is lucky to have you and your husband caring for him. |
If the vet will not keep him and try to do something for him, find another vet. In the meantime if he will not take baby food directly try syringing it into him. Also when my girls would not eat after their surgeries I have given them Hill/s A/D, it is very palatable and most dogs love it. It is also high in calories and meant for dogs who are recovering from being sick or surgery or whatever. It will put some weight on him which he needs right now. You can also syring that into him if need be. BUt please force feed him if you cannot get him to eat, he needs the food right now. |

Best of luck with Bug, I am a breeder and is our responsability to see this babies thru, I have slept on the floor, gone days without any real rest just to make sure my babies have the best care posible. try to get the goat's milk is really, good, also the pedialyte makes a wonderful tool when you have a little one like this.. hugs, Carmen in nj |
Dear Suz and helping team, Just wanted to say I've been where you are right now. I know how hard it is when this is going on. You have our prayers and best hopes for Little Bug. |
Ok. I posted something last night and the power went off. It was off for almost an hour!! So by the time I remembered it had gone off, it was today. Actually about 1/2 hour ago. So....my bad. I'm sorry for not posting sooner. He's made it thru another night and today. My mom (who posted on here a little while ago) went to the store and got Kayro syrup, goats milk, baby rice cereal, and Pedyalite. <ixed it all up and fed him some. He ate about 6 finger-fulls off her finger, which is a BIG +!!! Last night he just kept wanting to sleep. About the only time he gets mad at all is when we don't put him on the floor so he can pee or poop. He gets reall mad and wiggles horribly till we put him on the floor. Then he goes, and we can pick him back up again. He is still wobbly and doesn't walk to far. So we don't let him down very much. We do have other dogs who without thinking, roll him over and try to make sure he's clean. I have a LOT of help with him. Both 2 legged and 4 legged!! I want to Thank You all again for your thoughts, prayers and words of encouragement. |
this little guy is a fighter! he ate very well too, that is always a great sign! thnk you so much for udating . he is in very good hands :) |

Are you still giveing the Nutri-Cal & how often ? There is a member ( linanator ) who last year had a baby who she almost lost several times. She was force feeding & giving Dyne as per the vet's recommendation instead of nutri-cal & he just would not thrive. I suggested she ask the vet if the Dyne & the Nutri-Cal had the same ingredients & they do not the Dyne is lacking in B vits so she started giving the Nutri-Cal between the feedings & the Dyne & her puppy started to thrive & is a happy little guy now. Maybe he needs a little More Nutri-Cal as when the B vits are low the pup will be very week & often when they are week , they will not eat. |
Prayers for baby bug! |
I hope your little guy pulls through! I think when you can stabilize him it might be a good idea to have him tested for a liver shunt. It's not always easy breeding dogs but it sounds like you are doing everything possible to help him.... |
Wel folks, it breaks my heart to tell you this, but we lost him. He just kept getting worse. I took him to the vet and he said that there wasn't anything left to do. He was so bad it just broke our hearts to see him like he was. He couldn't walk, stand for any longer than about 5 seconds, and his head just kept rolling to the side. I appreciate all of everyone's good wishes, prayers and everything else. But the time had come to let him go. God wanted him for a reason. Smart guy, God is. Thank all of you for your suggestions on feeding him and all. He just never got any better.:( |
I'm so sorry you lost baby bug. My heart breaks for you. |

I\'m literally in tears! I really had hope for him! This is devastating to hear...I bought my Bentley in the same condition and I was told he probably wouldn\'t make it from 3 different vets and I just had to have him so I can make sure he lived and he is extremely healthy today. I had the same hope for Bug. Sorry for your loss. |
I\'m so sorry for your loss. :( RIP sweet Bug! |
I\'m sorry for your loss...R.I.P. |
I am very sorry that Little Bug died. I had this happen once and the vet did an autopsy. Even after that she couldn\'t find the exact reason the puppy died. You did everything you could, so don\'t blame yourself. Sending hugs and prayers that you will get some rest and that the other puppies thrive with excellent health. |
